Water Race Pond

How long should a water race pond be? How far from the bank is the tree? Any info. on setting up a race pond would be appreciated.

pond

My training pond is 90 yards[270 feet].Trees 20 feet from water line, box is sitting over the water. They better know how to swim when they start across it.I send mine across, let them tree a couple minutes then bring them back across.Have not drown any yet,did have to send the son on his kayak after a few.Bunch of dogs, lots of kids and water,INSTANT FUN.
