Heads Up Track Driving Stud

So who has this stud, not one that is just shooting thru the dark to get alone, but one that has good speed, endurance, heart, grit and isn't over 70 lbs that has the meat.

I ️ve seen this in John Gills Meadowoods Mountain Blue. Not only does he do this he is throwing hounds with big mouths, track speed, he is catching on to the public. I think he's gonna be a great reproducer. His offspring are tall and leggy with beautiful heads. I've talked to guys who have drawn him at the hunts and all say the same thing. Flys on a cold track and needs no help.big mouth and tree dog. He has crossed up outcross females with good results. He has bred two English females and I talked to the owner of one of the females said he was gonna breed back. Just my two cents. Good Luck finding what your looking for.

Rocklynn

Blue's sire was known for throwing track dogs.I remember him when Ellis owned him. I tried to buy his sister..Her name was Misty Blue Fancy that Emet Brohard had. Old Diamond Jim had speed to spare... His grand pups like Blue is were better than their parents. It may be worth it to drive to central Ohio and see it first hand.. Matt Turner and John Gill have a plan, maybe it can be of some help to you.

Crocket is just as you described and reproducing this kind too. Didn't want to get on here and toot his horn but proof is in the pudding. He also puts a big mouth on them. Some of the females have huge male dog type mouths.

This is the ped on the females and pic off them treeing on a bear with there mother, she is treeing off the tree, she is the mother to all my dogs, but had to get spayed due to complications giving birth to these pups. The pups are 1yr half old, put together extrealmly well, with good speed, volume, grit, and drift a track well, nice noses. They are hair pullers and the female on the left can roll on at 13 miles hr and have seen her run a bear for 10 miles, before putting it up.

I am very proud of these two. One on the right has went thru her first cycle and should cycle again in Dec, might wait one more, just looking down the road in about a yr from now, maybe the next one?

Track speed, how do you know when it's real track speed. Environment effects what I'm going to say next. Can you count on one hand the number of mature coon the hound has caught on the ground the past year? If so you may have a nice hound but it's not a super track dog. An average track dog that's by itself with a coon will win often. If a dog runs away from other hounds with a track most every time it's the real deal. You'll know what to look for if you have seen it and realized what was going on.

Trent Krough's NtCh Oakley male is one of the nicest track driving dogs I've seen go. He wins more casts than he loses too. He is out of Perry Vesley's GrNtCh Spit dog, who can shove a coon up a tree also. Another is Joel and Jake Appel's GrNtCh Jet dog. If you're looking for running a track to catch, those dogs come tomy mind.

I don't know how many coons my dogs could catch on the ground, but I lost count a long time ago the number of bear they catch on the ground, to tree, to bail out and tree again. The video below is a bear that bailed out 7 times before staying treed, total miles ran, bit over 8, total dogs on bear 3, they are in the above photo with ped. I guess I am a bit ugly or really scary looking because when I got there he was out of there, he finally stayed treed, he was whipped, the dogs were whipped, and I was whipped.

One must have a gritty dog with endurance, speed, track, and grit to stay with one. If I had more money or time, I guess I would get back into coon hunting, just had bad experiences in the comp hunts and lost interest in it, I always enjoyed the meeting folks and seeing the different dogs. Maybe I need more stimulation these days or perhaps I am getting scared of the dark.

I can work 6 dogs on bear and know what I got on the end of the lead. Yes they are all independent dogs, but not to a fault, only one is perfect.

You are right about the variables but a good dog should move a track at at least 5-8 mph trailing I would think. I know I have had several dogs that could track bear that I know they couldn't smell, just by seeing tracks in the snow....that's no b.s. either, and smell one well over 500 yds with the right conditions, but there is the scent factor, 100-400lb bear will defiantly leave more scent than a 5-20lb coon. Today four dogs were hunted 3 bear treed.

I am just looking for some good males to pic from, thanks for the positive responses. All 3 dogs are very nice, with exceptional breeding. Hope you guys enjoy the video.

Hunting more than one hound (pack) it may appear that one has several top track hounds. The hound in front isn't always the best track dog. The one in front on a loose may very well be the track dog. I am certainly no expert on evaluation of hounds. I have hunted some nice coon hounds that were impressive track dogs. I hunted for 40 years before figuring out why they didn't catch more coon on the ground. The phrase, running to catch, really means the hound is following fast. Twenty to fifty yards behind the coon won't get any fur pulled. It takes a track dog that can get a coon in view. I like a hound getting treed quick with a coon. I enjoy a hound that leaves the pack on a running coon and it seems like different coon.

Very well put, you perfectly described the stud I am looking for, top to bottom. I have been very blessed over the yrs.

I have a female out of Bowens Blue Deuce she runs with her head up and can flat move a track. I have put her down behind some fast dogs that was out 500 to 600 yads ahead of her and she can run them down like it's nothing. From what I hear Deuce it's like that and most all of the dogs out of him is like that. I hunt her on bear Deuce has a litter mate sister that is hunted on bear that is a run with her head up super fast dog.
