I would like to know, info. on this Doc.
& nt. ch. yellow riv. Huck // voice on track & tree , how deep , how loud , or any other info. someone has on either one of these

Ron, I hunted with both dogs and I would call them loud. The Yellow River stuff out of Rocky was all loud at least any I hunted with. That would include , Little Red, Rebel, Music, Blaze, Rowdy,Huck and Rocket " maybe the loudest" . Doc was out of Red and Doc seemed to put mouth in his pups and so did Huck. I had a male out of Huck that had what I would call the perfect hound voice. Big bawl on track ,huge locate and steady chop. I think you will find that big voice and tree power are the traits you get from the Yellow River bred dogs. That and they were good looking also. Both the dogs you asked about would go as deep as needed and I would say opening moderately along the way. Very good locates and steady stay put tree dogs. If they were still alive I would be breeding to them again.

I never hunted with Bo. I am sure he was a coondog. I hunted with Kate when Mark owned her and I can't remember how her voice was , I do remember she got treed quick.!! Seems like she had a sharper type voice but you can ask Mark.

We've had that discussion on here before and that is one think that stuck pretty well in the ones I had from rocky which seems to be were it came from. Like I said before I had a legally deaf guy wanted that Dozer hound, i sent up to Dave in wisc.to hunt bear with, something feirce he couldn't believe a Redbone was that loud that he could hear him at a mile away. That pup out of dozer I put on the main board when they was bragging about which stud produced the loudest hounds and there wasn't a pup of any breed that matched that pup. I bred to Rocky to get that winding/ lay-up ability he seemed to throw pretty consistantly. Dozer is the heaviest bred hound there is on Rocky but all the credit goes to Rocky if ya ask me on the volume end for sure.

When I went up to breed to Bo he had a good voice but it wasn't a blow you away volume best I can remember but then he was just barking around and not out in the woods treed or anything.

Any pictures of Doc. Have two young dogs out of Big D X Mystery[ Bo X Deana] male and female. Both are big and very loud,very well built good legs,chest and nice broad head with dark muzzles. Where did they get the grit from,both are coon killing machines. Just made a cross by the male to a NITECH female that is Fireball/Yellow River bred,for the looks, mouth,tree power and the grit this line has.

Fiddle side of the pedigree probably put most the black on their backs and necks. Famous Amos blood gets you a lot of that .

Kink/Reckon

I bred Reckon to Kink and Dean Daugherty had a male from that cross named "Yall" that was one of the loudest dogs I have ever heard. He drowned in a river after falling throw the ice. He was just a young dog when he died. I wish I could have bred something to him before that happened he was a nice up and coming hound."Yall" would have had Doc as his grand dad on both top and bottom.

Yellow River Doc "a very special hound". He was a large bone dog and had a very big head. Saw him pick up a big live coon in his mouth, crush and shake it to death in probably 5 seconds. It was so fast, it was like a blur and the coon was dead. That's how he did it. Doc was a very hard hunter that Struck as soon as he smelled coon, then wasn't real mouthy, just opened now and then. Hard steady tree dog with a loud tree mouth, pretty accurate. I hunted with him when he was young (2 or less), he was an especially nice competition dog. Also hunted with him when he was old, he hunted too wide when he was old.
Many wonder why Doc never got his last win toward GRNT. When in his prime Doc was only put in the big hunts like AO, breed hunts and the Winter Classic (he won). Doc suffered a knee injury that required at least a couple surgeries when a young dog. Then later Doc was shot in the face with a shotgun, while treed on a cast. Some of the cast died, Doc survived after a very long recovery. Seemed like after he was shot, when put in a hunt he would go about a mile before he would start hunting, that didn't work out so good in the hunts.
I'm pretty sure Doc's picture was on the cover of Coonhound Bloodlines once. Redbone or Winter Classic issue, not sure which.
Harry Oumedian and Jeff Murphy have GRNTCH Stone that is a son of Doc. He reminds me alot of Doc. He hasn't been bred to very much, but from what I have seen he throws the good kind.

If anyone has a offspring report on doc please pm me. I'm looking for a female off him and my old cowgirl. The mix of doc and cowgirl was good. I took and quick open mouth fast locating stay put female in cowgirl. And added more volume, more hunt and kept stay put. That made desperado and hardrock. I don't know much about hardrock other than he is a dual grand. Desperado though is and good mix of both. Goes hunting strikes his track as they come hot or cold and finishes them. He is crazy accurate. Has a very good clear screaming type mouth. Has been called lipper loud, I asumming that a good thing. Desperado is just a bare non coon dog. I'm glad cowgirl was bred to doc. I just wish the pups would of lived out of the 2nd cross that Harry was nice enough to use with limited semen he had to use.
