Posted by blackNtangirl on 07-01-2012 05:36 PM:

Still no power it blew our barn roof off, our tarps off from our kennels, tree limbs every where. Lots, and lots of trees down on our farm. I'm thankful our home/and garage is still standing, and no one was hurt. I was stuck out in it, couldnt get home, due to trees and power lines. Jimmy came and helped cut thru the trees to get me home. They say it could be Friday night at 11 before we have power. Hope everyone else is safe and cool

Posted by ahinsch on 07-01-2012 07:24 PM:

I was out in the middle of it cutting my tarps free from my kennels, i just put them there temporarily when this ridiculous heat started. If i hadn't cut them loose my kennels would have been trashed. 48 Hours still no power, hopefully it will be back on before the 7th as predicted.

We have had a couple terrible wind and lighting storms but not a drop of rain yet. With tems for the last 7 days around 108 to 110 it is very unusual for around here

I'm a Lineman for Duke Energy here in IN. I've been out workin since Friday at 7am on 16hr shifts and will be workin through the night tonight. We will be hard at it until the last house is in power.Theres been alot of trees down and broken poles, and alot of right of way work, whick means ALOT of climbing but we are making some head way. If I see a dog box in your drive way, I'll make sure to move you to the front of the list. Lol!! Hope we get everyone on soon.

Minor damage on my house and some scared six week old pups. One tree missed my Dad's house by 5 feet. Another one at his place uprooted and missed one of the dogs and a building by a few feet. Went to my buddies place to check on his dogs cause he was working midnight and found one of our dogs killed by a big limb that fell off an oak tree he was tied beside. Not a fun time.

Day #4 no power now, their telling us it will be Sunday, before it comes back on. Lost everything in our freezers/ and refrigerator. That food can be replaced, just glad our house is still standing.

it's really hard to be prepared for all kinds of emergencies. i've got a new generator that i've never used but it won't carry the central air. i don't have anything to heat with, except for a small propane heater that might keep someone from freezing, if something happens in the winter. i found generators big enough to run my AC for about $2000.00. but what's the chance of needing it? we could stay in a motal for a week cheaper than that.

u could always shut the extra rooms off in the winter and use some 110 electric heater u can get at tractor supply or walmart

electric fans on a bucket of ice work ok for a while
harber freight as some 7000 watt generators for around $700 ,they should run about anything..

i have a 5000 watt generator that will run a 220 volt welder and it runs my 220volt house well water pump,
they run around $400-500..

or you could just pretend you is amish and do like they do everyday...lol
