so a hunt in Iowa (nhba days) which is 15 hrs or more away from back east and u cant have a hunt that weekend?? Does ukc really think if they close that weekend ppl will say "well i guess i gotta go to Iowa" not hardly they just wont go to a ukc trial that weekend, UKC lost money on that weekend....mark it down

Hope this is a misunderstanding. NHBA finally got UKC to close the date but allow run-offs? This sure does seem to be a double standard if true. Again I hope this is a big misunderstanding as I heard Missouri was not allowed to have thiers on PP National weekend due to it being a closed date. This is the breed association for UKC and I dont think its unreasonable to expect their support. Cant imagine Jed allowing this. Again I hope this is a big misunderstanding.
Mitch no offense but what if NHBA Days was in KY? Why is Nationals a closed weekend? Do you really think the entries of Nationals would go up if people had a local hunt on the same weekend? If a guy from KY was planning on going to NHBA Days but had to make a choice of their run-off (which hes ran all year for) or NHBA Days Im sure they would pick their run-off. UKC has finally recognized NHBA Days as one of its big events and closed the date. If they allow a run-off on this weekend then why not let Missouri have theirs during PP Nats? A closed weekend is suppose to be just that a CLOSED WEEKEND. Sorry but alot of people are trying to promote NHBA for UKC and its members. This hole organization will not survive without UKC's support. I'm sorry but if they allow these runoffs during NHBA Days it will absolutely effect a least someone who may have attended NHBA Days and to me show a lack of support. AGAIN I HOPE THIS IS A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING.
Dave we agree with you, we hope this is a big misunderstanding. In our opinion this would be a slap in the face to the board of NHBA who have volunteered thier time and hard work to make NHBA what it is today! Jed had this in his full circle he puts in American Beagler magazine in Feb 2010. He stated that NHBA days was one of the big 5 hunts of the year where know other hunt can be schedule. It would not matter what state NHBA Days is in, if they schedule the state run offs on that weekend it will affect the dogs at NHBA days.

hey mike ive been asking the same question for two months ive called ukc an still cant get the answer...

the runnoffs are a secret, like finding a pot of gold.
Dave,
I understand ur point of view but when the choice is made to have this hunt so far west, surely u can understand that alot of ppl ohio wv pa va etc are not goin to go to this hunt ,but they would go to a hunt local, anybody fromthose area that does wanna make the drive are gona go regardless if there is a local hunt or not, do u see what im sayin. Im not knocking NHBA for havin the hunt in IOWA , its long overdue that MO IA area get some big hunts, great running!!!! BUT it makes no sense to close this weekend to me for clubs 15hrs away for example. The distance will not affect the two. The guys I know in those areas out west, Ive heard em say they should be allowed to have hunts on other closed dates, becasue they aint driving 15hrs to ohio for nationals for example. To me the distance is so great in this economy having local hunts back east and the NHBA days being in IA do not affect eachother.
The biggest knock for alot of ppl driving that far a hunt is that it is NOT elimination style, ive talked to alot of ppl that are gona go to nationals because of the new format that have not been goin.
Again im not tryin to knock NHBA at all, sound slike the org is headed in the right direction due to the hard work of some good ppl. Im just stating an opinion here, we plan on goin to NHBA days, ive just talked to ALOT of ppl in the east that CANT AFFORD to drive that far with gas prices like they are ,especially if its not somewhat elimination style, but these ppl would definately attend local trials that weekend because they can afford it. I can see closing hunts within 4 or 5 hrs from that hunt, but whe n u r talking 15 16 17 hrs , ppl just can afford it

quote:It shouldn't be a secret you should know if you made the cut I'm only asking so we can make the plans for what trials an traveling I can afford the Jackson club said they THINK they are holding it, an the date they mentioned is the same as Nhba days I agree not to close it to local hunts but I don't think they should have the run off during it the local hunts would accomodate the local guys an that's good.but the run off is a big deal along with the Nhba days

I have know idea about a nhba hunt. All I know is we sent in a request for our club to get the ky/tenn state runoff. And as far as I know we got it. We chose March 19th for our date and ukc told me that was fine. Sorry that it upset several people. Those who want, come on out to the hunt and let's have a good time.
When is missouri runoff? Sounds to me like the shoe is on the other foot for the people out east. This is the kind of sacrifices the good people of missouri and iowa have had to make to go to the bigger hunts. Gas prices, driving time, time from family etc. If it isnt gioing to be a closed weekend then the world hunt shouldn't be closed for missouri and iowa! Thats 15 hours away AGAIN!!!
hey lance thats wat im sayin. And to be honest for years 80% of UKC trialers lived in the east , made no sense back then to have hunts out there away from the vast majority of ukc guys, now Iowa MO have really grown, like I said im glad u guys are gettin a big hunt out there, lot more rabbits for sure. its not a matter of "shoe on the other foot" or what ever . I just dont see how a club 15 hrs away is goin to affect a hunt, we plan on comin out God willing, I just know alot of guys aint but would attend a hunt local.
