Dog box on 4x6 trailer

Anybody ever took a full size dog box and mounted it on a small utility trailer like a 4x6? Seems like a cheap way to make a dog trailer. Some of the dog trailers out there today are outrageous...

If you got a pic of yours, lets see it!

We did this for a while a few years back. Problem we had was thee wasn't enough weight so the trailer didnt pull to good over about 60.

Mines Huge !! and holds 8 large hound

But I'm thinking about building a smaller one , I like the Hounds being able to walk around when we come to stops plus relieve themselves ..

the next will be built on a 8' x 6' and only be 4-1/2' tall

The trailer is 4x6 with LineX'd full size box. Anything longer, would probably have some u-turn issues in some of the places I take it.

Here is backshot:

The floor of the trailer is diamond plate steel like on the car haulers which makes the trailer heavier and no pulling issues over 60 mph.

Buckshot-

I really like the looks of your little trailer. What brand/ where did you find that trailer. Most of the small (4x6 trailers) that I have looked at don't have that big of tires on them. Yours looks pretty sturdy.

Plus, how do you have your dog box attached to your trailer?

Thanks.

I had the trailer bulit at a local trailer shop about 2 miles down the road. Told them what I wanted and picked up about a week later. I also told them what size tires I wanted on it and had the spare tire mount added. P and T Trailers buit it...I know they are a big trailer builder that wholesales to businesses as well all over the place......not sure it if they wholesale to just regional area.

http://www.pandttrailers.com/

I actually have bigger tires on it now than what is pictured aboved. These are on there now.

On the backside of the trailer on opposite sides of the spare tire, I have the box secured by bolts that run all the way through to inside of the boxes compartmentss

I have them done that only the nuts on the outside of the trailer needs be remove instead of having to have someone hold tool in box compartment and someone on trailer end unbolting -- makes for easy removal if box needs to be removed.

Inside of box compartment is washer and bolt goes through to another washer and nut on outside of box..........the long bolt then goes through outside of trailer where another washer and nut is -- those are the nuts I remove to take the box out.

You cannot see the outside box nut and washer in the pic now that it has be LineX, but they are there.

I have a lock on the box that is hard to see on the black lock I have on it now, but you can see where it is in second pic as there was a green one on it.

Mounted a light bracket on a project box and connected it to the side of the trailer. All I have to do is open the dog box and attach the light head to the side now.

Here is what everything looked like after buying the trailer and picking up the dog box.

I really don't think you could Beat Tractor Supply for Trailers !!

You can prit much buy them any way you want .. Ours even have them where you can put your own Floor on them .. Around $ 350

I think mine which is a ATV Trailer that has front right and rear Ramps was around $1,300 ..

I had a dog trailer back in the day. It had a little short tongue. That means back just a little and it turns alot! I called it the jacknife special. LOL I would sure hate to try to get turned around on a woods road. I knew better than try that.

All aluminum, no rust, LED tail lights, lightweight and pulls like a dream. Bet I have 20,000 miles on it.
