New Hampshire Bobcat Pics!

naw...just kidding. We have a pile of cats but no season on them. Every state around us has a cat season, but we dont. I can go out and walk 300 yards out back and cut a cat track. I'm jealous of all you guys that run cats..keep the pics and videos coming, they're really great to watch and look at!

Bow, you're pretty good with a camera. You should make a calendar or something! Were all those cats off a bait pile?

Cats

Mike do you remember coon hunting one night in Deerfield with M and WD it was cold plenty of snow old Hawk struck of the truck I figured it was a coon we cut loose Hawk your Tracker Dog and WD,s Blackan tan they treed we went to the tree tied the dogs Back got ready to shoot the coon out I thik it was you that noticed it wasn,t a coon but a nice cat . I can count a few times the old dog did that to me I also remember hunting with the old Annie dog before I bought her and sold her to you . we had her and Hawk up on the Box the guy that owned her was Bragging saying she was just a straight coon hound nothing else I was laughing in side when he said that. I told him my dog would run anything that would Climb a tree well they both struck hard we cut them loose they drove the guy said annie is treed I said well my dog isnt bt hes not moving as we got closer to them we could see a old camp they were under it a dog could barley fit all the time he is saying they have a coon under there I got down on my belly looked under the camp they had a nic cat bayed up under the camp I laughed and said man that a nice coon take a look . the guy was actualy pissed off I draged old hawk out by his tail and Annie the guy started whooping her for chasing the cat I aked him what the Hell is wrong with you ? any way I bought her not long after that. we have more cats now than then for sure .

John

I remember that night, good thing Mike saw that it was a cat. I think we all would have sh#@ our pants had I pulled the trigger!

Posted by Mike_Flores on 01-31-2010 01:40 PM:

John I do remember that night, it was very impressive. It was cold and dry, we were able to walk on top of the snow. There couldn't have been any ground scent to work with. Hawk stuck the cat off the truck, and recall watching him run down the road maybe 50 yards, he let out a ground bark and then lept over the snowbank and was off and running. It had to have been all air scent he was working with but he treed it pretty quickly. Hawk sure was a good one, I think he was showing off that night lol.

Cat Tree...

.... that would be SO COOL! Next time we get up to hunt with you Mike... f we tree a cat we'll be just fine with that!

Have to say... I just showed the pix on here to Bob and our 16 yr old son was here. This kid has NO interest in hunting anything... he cringes if we have to kill anything here except bugs... So I only show him select pix. WELL... his 16 yr old eyes lit up like I was showing him a gorgeous model in a Victoria Secret catalog.... LOL... HE was not only impressed by the cat but also by the camera skills. Takes alot to get an akward 16 yr old boy to react to his PARENTS!

Heather, Bob AND Dylan

Hey Heather, yes Bow is surely a skilled wildlife photographer! Those photos look very professional so I can see why your son is drawn to them. I wonder if Bow has an online photo album (hint hint), if so I'd like to view it...these cant be the only photos he has of this quality. They're really nice.

We are long over due for a get together and hunt. We're not allowed to chase bobcats here in NH so I doubt we'd see one but you never know. I dont claim to have cat dogs either and would be surprised to see a cat up there but, it would be neat. A few years ago I was out at night checking a feed bucket, I used to bring Tracker (which is a son of Hawk) with me just for a walk. He usually hunts out but if you call him he comes right back close. Anyway he got ahead of me maybe 100 yards from the feeder and just fell treed, I was just about to call him when I heard him. I went down to him and he had something up a big hemlock, it just sat up there looking right at us, never looked away or moved. I couldn't tell what it was but I've always thought is was a bobcat...it just looked like it. Wasn't a coon I'm sure of that... who knows. Another time I was refilling that same feeder during the day, in winter. I had Tracker with me again and I watched him start getting far out in front of me with his nose up in the air smelling. He fell treed on a smaller hemlock and had a fisher. The fisher was curled up in a ball, laying in the sun. Looked down at me once and went back to snoozing lol. One more time...took Tracker for a walk in the woods with Robin and her nephew Alec, Tracker did the same thing but had a coon way up a good sized hemlock, during the daytime. Alec got a real kick out of that. I should take Tracker for more leisurly strolls in the woods before he's gone lol.

Hey Mike

Tracker would LOVE a few more walks.... and I'd love to see pix, so would Bob. You know we love the old ones....
Yeah... we are over do! LOL... Funny how LIFE gets in the way! I'm doing well with the exercising since PT ended. I JOG a mile a day on the tread mill without toooooooo much neck pain. I am still in pain about 100% of the time but it is my normal stuff... no more of those Knifeblades down the legs! I learned my WHOLE spine is so weak that the core muscles just need to be kept up. DUH.... as a former athlete... I never had to WORK at being fit... HEck... I'm almost 50 now too so I have to work HARDER!
Being broke, stressed, tired, um... what else? COLD! Has made the desire to travel for a hunt a bit less...LOL... We WILL get together though! I want to try to get up to some Monadnock event to see some of the fun stuff... You guys will all have to remind me....
I would just be THRILLED to ever see a Bobcat in the wild. Never seen a track here and doubt we ever will. When I moved her in 1985 we DID get a mountain lion track thru the farm... we did a cast of it for the local agricultural HS to do an ID.... pretty cool... as long as it has moved THRU that is! LOL... We do have some long trails of conservation land thru Wrentham, and RI etc.. so we do get more wildlife than you'd expect so close to cities BUT... NEVER enough.
Keeping my fingers crossed that BIG fisher waits on another DEAD bird here... Get worried about the chickens in the barn... but so far so good. I won't have Bob kill it even if we catch it coming in the barn... I'm not trying to do the chicken farming any more so... not so concerned but still hate to lose the old pet birds. Feeding the hayloft coon keeps THEM from eating them at least! LOL...
Got a picture of a HUGE coon out back on the cam. I have NEVER seen a MA coon that big... we have such teeny tiny ones....
Well.. it's nearly time to brave the cold and do aftn chicken chores...SIGH... Man I hate winter more and more each year....LOL....
Later, Gator! HEather

Good Job ! Again !

Bow,

Nice pics. Not much opportunity down my way this weekend.

Your pictures are AWSOME!

Are you sitting in some type of blind? How far away are you? My guess would be about 40 yds.

Thanks
Jim

I noticed those Pic's of Coyote's you put up there. Are there any guy's up there ,that Hunt Coy Dogs with Hounds?..We hunt them down here with dogs.thanks theo

Great cat pics. Those yotes would of had my dogs on them. Them yotes are more fun to run than a barrel of Monkeys. Some days the dogs will put 20 miles on chasing them.
