Info About Plotts

My Nephew is wanting to buy a Plott puppy to use for coon hunting. I am at a loss when it comes to Plott breeding and lines. He wants a brown brindle and a large dog with a square head.No skinny noses. Help me out here and tell me about the strain and lines of Plotts and what they are reproducing. I will need names and web sites if you know of some.I need some recommendations as to help this boy with his search. We will be at Plott Days in Brazil, but we can also travel to pick the pup up if we find one. We live in Southern Indiana.

Thank You

Lucy;

There are quite a few breeders in your area.

The only one that has a web site that I know of is Alan Smith.

His web site is: blackwater-plotts.com. I don't know if he has any pups that are brown brindle, but he may have some pups.

I have two female pups. one redish brown brindle and one black brindle out of:

Tree Right Silver Bullet X WCH CH Blackwater Wailing Banshee.

You can e-mail me at: jeward@triad.rr.com

Plotts

You might want to come to Plott Days in Brazil, IN on July 31, Aug. 1, and 2. There will be breeders and pups on the grounds.

Jackie has given you the advice that I would second, there are many different strains and bloodlines of Plotts that could do the job for you weather its Big game or Coon that you wish to pursue. By attending Plott days you can view first hand the parents of some of the pups that will be offered for sale, as well as watch the results of the Bench shows and or Night hunts to get a idea of what direction you want to go.

One person I would recommend you may want to visit with would be Jim Garrison of Missouri, his dogs may suit you and their outstanding competition dogs. We have a male here that belongs to a friend thats out of his Ranger dog that is a fine looking Plott and is loaded with ability.

The gentleman that has the Bullet pups may also have what your looking for, years ago I hunted with Bullet on Bear and he was outstanding and a complete Bear dog.

The other recommedations certainly merit consideration as well.
What you want or what pleases one may not please another. Best of luck in your pursuit to purchase a pup.
