UKC Hunts
I really enjoy a UKC Slam Event, they ran much like a PKC sancitoned Pro Hunt. Do you think there will be a day when UKC hunts become money sanctioned events instead of a win slip or a plastic trophy? I am thinking in the near future UKC will ne holding more money sanctioned events & I don't see no problem with that. Any opinions on this?!

When and if that happens, coon hunting will officially be on its last grasp of life. IMO

What I'm saying if we lose regular UKC hunts. I missed the word "more" and thought "all" in the question
I'm perfectly happy hunting 2 hours for $20 or less dollars and getting a win slip. The plastic trophy is just a bonus.
With the $250 entry fee for the Super Slams, it should be obvious that they will never rival the yellow slip hunts. If you're worried about that, you are looking for something to worry about.
I love the SS hunts, plan to hunt at least 5 this year. Best new program UKC has. I sure hope they run with them.

I'm looking forward to the ss myself, we have a good schedule here in IN
I'm buying an entry to the one in legrand. Love the rule changes, and think UKC is doing a good job holding hunts that everybody can enjoy.

Honestly, UKC would attract a lot more people. A lot better dogs & bigger events. I'd rather have the ability to win an entry fee back rather than a win slip or a trophy or titling a dog. Some of you may feel different, just my opinion. to me, granding a dog out & finishing it is nothing & just a title. I've hunted with GrNt's that would tree on a corn stalk. I think Hunts with $$$ involved would bring out quite a few more people & have events like PKC, you have to qualify & have money won to hunt in something big. Not taking anything away from UKC but it's a great registry.

my opinion; and you asked for them in the original post before we get started::
1 I do not have a problem with ukc having more money hunts it takes all kinds to make the world go round and this shows ukc is being open minded to what the hunters request.
2 I hear a lot of people saying hunting for win slips trophies and titles is pointless, well then don't go! and while your at it burn your ukc papers and think about this when someone is trying to sell all grand puppies.
3 as far as numbers at the hunts 937 dogs at the winter classic is a pretty impressive number of guys that came to hunt for a trophy.
4I do not get the logic that you will have better dogs yes there are gr nt ch that do not deserve this title but there are also *kc champs that do not as well.Comp hunting is like playing poker not every one is willing to sit down to a 250 buy in game of texas holdem but a lot more play a 10$ game so it comes back to numbers and making this sport survive and giving us an avenue to show our hounds and compete with other hunters. does it mean they are any better dog or does it mean you are willing to gamble more money to play the game??
5 without the common ukc or low dollar amount hunts how do we get more people involved to keep our sport alive? When I started going to the hunts back when I was in high school it was my money that I used for entry fees dogs and so forth. I did not have someone paying the bill for me to play so therefore if the entry fees would of been more money I prob would not have got involved in comp hunting same goes for today. If my daughter says she wants to go to a hunt sat and the entry is 20$ we will prob go but if she comes and says dad I want to go to a hunt with 250$ entry we are prob not gonna make it and before you ask yes she is packing a COONDOG but I just am not able to justify taking that kind of money out of my budget to go roll the dice. There is a winner and a loser in every game.
To sum it all up I don't mind if ukc has more money hunts for the ones that want to go to them, but I hope they leave the hunts we have in place alone and leave money out of the equation...... last but certainly not least why do some guys have to come on a ukc board to bitch about them or down grade the registry if you do not like ukc or the way they do things go to the other registry boards that you hunt in and avoid ukc. If you don't like someone why on earth would go to the coffee shop to drink coffee with them..?? jmo

Any club hunt can be a money hunt if I am not mistaken
They can charge any entry and pay back what ever they want
I believe the SS were set up to invite the money hunters, it would be nice to see the clubs in Michigan setup a few. I believe UKC also allowed the clubs to have payouts as well at regular hunts.

Money hunts.
I am going to try a couple money hunts this year. I just have a hard time giving 250-300$ for an entry. And I have the money to do so, but I guess its either my hounds aren't that good or I just like to keep my money. Lol. I mean one of the other kc's there is a one time 100$ fee and then I think the entry is 300$ and if you hunt enough of them (3) you can get into a truck hunt and I think the entry is only 250 for that. So 4 hunts your out 1250$, gas, food, hotel stays if far enough and all the family time you lose. I like to competition hunt but not at that price. Maybe if my kids were all grown up and my wife came along. Lol

Just seen more bickering and useless arguments at UKC. Must be why I've been barred for standing up and using the rules correctly.
