I have two questions

What happened to the rule at AO that only UKC registered dogs were allowed? We came across alot of dogs there that were for sale that were unregistered with NO PAPERS. Also there were cross bred pups there with no papers. Was there some one to report this to or is it just over looked? There was a litter of cross Walkers and ? guy said it could have been one of two dogs, one a B&T and the other a English! Now why were this dogs here? There were also unregistered Beagles there and a cross litter of Fox and Rat Terriers. I asked a few about the papers and they said they did not have them back yet? I some how would not have bought a pup from these people.

Also has AO always been at Richmond? If not where has it been held and why is it always at Richmond? Why does it not move around like the World? The Winter Classic is always at Albany? Or has it been some where else. I was just wondering why it does not move around. Why do they not have a perment place for the World.

>Why do they not have a perment place for the World.<
That's a good question.
Wonder what others think about setting a permanent location?
Do you all think it is better to have it move around?

hunt locations

Because I live in Texas, almost every hunt location is a long distance away. I believe Winter Classic stays at Albany because it's held in the winter & hopefully the southern location's weather will be better than farther north. Last year's Winter Classic was bitter cold, but MOST other years have had pleasant weather. As for the World, I'd like to see it move around - Ohio & Indiana are just too far away for those of us not living in Yankee territory - especially with the price of gas now.

Autum Oaks seems to get bigger every year, is this because it stays in the same place? I have never been to the Classic but what is it like. Are they close to the same in attendence? Does it get bigger every year? I have never been to the World, maybe this year, but is the attendece equal to the others? Can moving it around keep some from not attending or more attending? I have talked to quite a few who have attended the World and they were not impressed with alot of the grounds over the last few years. Some said the facilitys were not so good. Who has gone and was happy or unhappy with it?

Autumn Oaks/Winter Classic/UKC World

UKC has licensed competition coonhunts for 50 years, the first being held in Ingraham, IL on September 18-19, 1953. Since then there have been 44 Autumn Oaks, 15 Winter Classics and 25 World Hunts. The first Autumn Oaks was held in Greencastle and was won by Dale Brandenburger hunting a Plott called Pioneer Drum. Dale was also the winner of the first licensed UKC nite hunt in 1953 hunting Elwood Overbeck's Lucky dog, also a Plott. Since then Autumn Oaks has been held in numerous places. Kalamazoo, MI; Paducah, KY; Coldwater, MI; Cassopolis, MI; Centreville, MI; Winston-Salem, NC; Oak Harbor, OH; Logansport, IN; Jasper, IN, and pretty much everywhere else you can imagine. It finally settled in Richmond, IN and has been there for the last 12 years. Having the hunt in one good location has helped the numbers rise greatly. This has also been the effect of having the Winter Classic in one location. Folks can plan ahead and know exactly what it takes to make the trip.

The World Hunt does move around and the numbers do not flucuate due to the fact that only the top 100 dogs from around the country can come. I like the fact that the Zones, Finals all move as it gives the impression of fairness to folks from all around. It will be in Lagrange, IN again this year but who knows where it will land next year.
