Serious issues with the calculator. Don't waste your time.

Enter all the info like normal. Then change states to see what cost would be in a different state and then back to your original state and price will be different.

Never gives the same rate each time with same state and info.

Or fill everything out. Look at rates and then click the Start Over button on fill everything exactly the same and see if you get the same rate twice in a row -- NOPE.

Mine comes up the very same number each time I start it all over. It say you can't just swap back and forth without starting over.

Affordable Care Act

A CEO of a local Hospital in our town announced that they will be dropping all insurance for their 2000 plus employees because the fine is cheaper than supplying the insurance.

Our other Hospital in town took a fine for re-admitting patients within a 6 month period for the same ailment. The fine was not small. They have already had one round of lay offs and are now loosing man hours from all departments. They will loose, as all other Hospitals will, 8 million dollars in re-imburement costs that will go into a goverment held central fund. Each Hospital has to earn that money back through patient satisfaction scores. On the scores submitted...each patient has to answer "always" as opposed to usually or sometimes in response to the questions about their care for each question on the survey. It is expected that Illinois insurance premiums will sky rocket under this Act.

I did the above and entered the same identical info 5 different times and received 5 different rates.

Well played Parachute Health, I wondered how long it would take for insurance companies to start the Gap Plan hustle. Your website is very well laid out, and is receiving the knee jerk reactions from the less informed as expected....Bravo!

My house payment isn't as much as the Gold plan would be. So much for the affordable part.

I just hope when all this is said and done. I can come back here and say I was wrong. My insurance already doubled last yr. So we will just have to see how it plays out. We will know shortly. Be no more speculating then from either side.

shakethevine...

When this story broke, it made headlines here. It is the CEO's intention to pay the fine and drop insurance on their employees last I heard.
I have knowledge of these issues because I am in charge of a department in another Hospital.
I trained for 40 hours with a consultation firm from Georgia to teach the Hospital staff how to keep HCAHPS scores up so that we can earn back Medicare dollars.
I wish that the report was better...it is not. The affordable Care Act is going to be a major driver of the economy.
The new normal will be PRN positions that cannot work over 28 hours in a pay period for all non essential personel (oxymoron). There has been discussion that our current employee Insurance policies will be subject to tax based off of what the Hospital contributes...it will be treated as income for the employee...driving up the employee cost to buy the insurance.
I am well versed in the fines, fees and penalties that are coming.
The President has delayed the employer mandate because of unintended consequences to employers, but not the individual mandate...key deadlines for exchanges have been missed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services...and Insurances companies are dropping out of the exchanges at a rapid rate because they cannot afford to reduce their premiums for care as dictated by the Secretary.
We currently will loose 8 million dollars in re-imbursement that we will have to earn back through our patient satisfaction scores.
These score are based on random sampling of patients. Their choices will be to answer that we performed actions "Always"- "Usually" - "Sometimes" - or " Never".
We have to receive Patient feedback that is answered "Always" on the questions submitted or we cannot earn the money withheld on all surveys submitted.
We are not permitted to use PRN employees more than 28 hours per pay period. If we do, the Hospital has to provide coverage for them the same as any full time employee.

There is one thing that I know...

We as Christians are told in the word to pray for those in Leadership over us. My Wife, children and I pray daily for our President and his Wife and Children...for their protection and for wisdom to effectively lead this country.
Regardless of what comes we have a peace and assurance that God will provide for us.
It took me alot of years to fully understand what Gods love and Grace accomplishes for us...and how he truly loves his Children.
I just came in from the kennel...Thunder was bawling to get out of the kennel to see me...Twister was straining against the kennel fence and wagging her tail excitedly and the others were joining in chorus...wanting to see their master.
It made me think about their various barks...how I know each of them on the trail and what they're doing by the pitch of there voice...
How God knows each of us and the sound of our voices...how he loves us...and that he has told us that he knows what we have need of before we ask.
Regardless of our disagreements...political beliefs...Republican or Democrat...we should hope and pray for the success of our President and this nation.
I may not agree with various political agenda's...but I hope for our Father to lead the President in all of his ways...that is my Family's prayer...that God's will be done...and God's alone.
