Buckshot, to anyone with a discerning eye, what I am saying is pretty accurate. Look at the different lines of feed. They all start cheap and work thier way up in price that is relevant to the quality as it goes up to. The grain or by-product from one company is not much different from the next. Corn is corn, beet pulp is beet pulp, chicken meal is chicken meal, regardless of the bag it is packaged in. Unless you are dedicated to feeding the best that you can buy, then one looks for price as the driving factor because junk feed from SS is not much different from junk feed from Purina or Diamond. Switching from one junk from Purina to SS is not much difference and really has no benefit to the dog. Crap is crap. As the quality gets better, the price goes up. As the price goes up, companies will actually seek out better quality ingredients, usually in the form of meat based protien and fat, because they have a consumer base that is interested in quality feed. What do you think actually drives these companies to seek out and produce quality feed? It isn't those that buy the junk. Anyway, the preservatives used become much better and as these ingredients become overall better, so does the performance of the dog as the fuel he burns is much cleaner and of better quality. Pretty basic stuff.

CSnowgren, no offense, crap is crap you like you say and you know what they say about opinions too.

I am happy with the results from the feed.......I've seen the results feeding it............you haven't as you haven't fed it.

I can live with folks knocking it, calling folks cheapstakes for feeding it, and etc......at the end of the day, their my dogs and I am satisfied with the feed and the results. Unless your wanting to start feeding them, I reckon I'll keep feeding them my way.

Of course you will, I never said different and, I never called you a cheapskate. I am not knocking the feed so much as I am the companies for putting profit so far over quality. They are in business to make money, sure enough. But for them to promote KNOWN junk as the "best", it is both irresponsible and not in the best interest of the dogs that you, I, and thousands of other coonhunters feed. I make no apologies for calling them on thier bullchit, it is our dogs as a whole that suffer. They promote what they make the most money on, they make the most money on the formulas that are comprimised of low cost ingredients and ingredients that generally have no other value in any type of feed industry save for chickens. Like I said, I have no desire to feed it as it probably is not much different than other junk formulas compromised of the same basic ingredients.

Say what you want the proof is in how the dog looks and feels. i feed ss for two years now and i love it. I take my dogs to the vet on regular basic and they are in top knoch health. So to the people that has never try it i don't knock it. Try it before you knock it.

If you feed over 3 cup's of the 24/20 from Southern States, your dog will be mud fat in about 3 week's. I feed 2 cup's to my older dog that I don't hunt anymore and 3 cup's to my active dogs, anymore would be to much. I am sure if I tried some of the higher priceddog feeds I would like the results, I am also sure if you tried the 24/20 from SS you would like what you see from it.
Quit reading dog food bags and hunt more.

Yeah, carbs are a pain in the butt when it comes to dogs. False impression of health due to the conversion of unused carbs. But, I suppose that would be an opinion to. lol

That is what I feed while hunting them 5-6 night a week.

And I guarantee you that you are feeding more than you claim if you are feeding a corn based feed to your dogs.

Corn and feathers wont put real muscle and fat on a dog.
