Well I had been liking it But I believe I got a Bad Batch and were thinking Semolina, It has hit a few of the Pack quite hard .. My French hound has had it the worst with a bad case of Enteritis due to the bacteria (These Imports just don't have the immune Systems of the Cross Hounds)

Her blood sugar droped very low (Bad Shakes) and she has become abit enimic also.. And also show some blood in her Stools ..

The other hounds have Diarrhea, very bad Gas and some bloating..

The French hound has had 1000ml so far of ringers and Treated with Anti Bacterial Meds. She's getting better but still having problems Jump Starting her Digestive System so She's been very hesitant to Eat much ..

But She has been Eating some French Toast "Go Figure"

I also put antibacterial meds in all the Drinking water of the other hounds ..

And they responded quickly ..

blu-by-u, if you do not mind, contact Linda at Garvins Feed & Seed at (256) 534-5637.

Was in there last week to buy hay and she said wanted to talk with someone at Southern States about getting me back to feeding the it again and work out a price.

They are the one that I talked with you about on the phone.

I really did like the feed when I was feeding it.

I've been feeding Southern States 24/20 complete for several years and I think its the best I've fed.I have not had any problems with this feed and my dogs and pups look great even when hunted hard.I pay $14.75 out the door for the 24/20 complete.

Try giving her culturel you can get it over the counter. It puts the good bugs back in their system. My son got food poisioning at a wild game supper this past spring and the Dr. said to give it to him for a year.

I take it you haven't actually fed it...........only making that opinion based on the the ingredients on the bag????????

Up to until recently with issue with a non Southern States store selling it, I was feeding the 26-18 Advanced Active.

I was well pleased with the feed along with the results of the hounds stamina in the field.

I see nothing special about it. I am sure it holds up about as good as the rest of the junk held together by beet pulp as it contains the same crap. No need for me to feed it, knowing what the ingredients do for a dog is all I need to know. Another junk feed packaged a little bit differently. Unknown chicken parts(beaks, feathers, feet usually, hence the term by-product), dried corn, with essentially the most useless part of rice, and who knows what kind of animal and vegetable fat (vegetable fat, really????) add some ground wheat and useless corn gluten meal to raise the protein levels........oh wait, this stuff will make the dog blow his colon out, better add some beet pulp so he doesn't crap all over the kennel. And it continues to go down hill from there. No, I don't need to feed it, I don't raise chickens.

Yea, that is what I figured.........Just alot of ASSumptions of results of feed WITHOUT using it and seeing first hand the results of the feed in action.

Funny, I have personally known folks to feed their dogs those called 5 star dog food, 30 lb $50 bag only to have the dog crap pure liquid, lose weight, and look like crap......and know I am not talking cold switch of feed and just on it for a week.

UNLESS you have actually fed it and seen the results of the feed, I don't reckon your opinion is valid.

It's like these dog food analysis site that base these dog food reviews and rating system on the ingredients of the food.

Yet their disclaimers says it all:

quote:

There is no single best food for every dog. However good the quality of ingredients, a food that suits every single dog does not exist. This site provides its users with information on the content of dog food products and the opinion of our Editors on the species-appropriate quality of those foods. There is no guarantee that any food, however highly rated, will suit a particular dog (just as one food suiting a dog does not mean that the next food in the same category will equally suit the dog). Finding the best food for your individual does, and always will, involve some amount of experimentation.

Buckshot...SS feed has what nearly every other feed has it in. Corn , chicken by products....(which is feathers, beaks, etc).I know....I work in the poultry industry and we sell tractor trailer loads of wet feathers and what is removed prior to evisceration to protein companies that render it down and sell to dog feed companies.

No doubt some dogs appear to do fine on that type of feed. I fed it for years...Then I tried a true meat based feed and had my eyes opened.

Everyone said I was crazy paying $34 for a 40# bag of feed...But I feed LESS feed and make a 40# bag of feed last longer than 2-50# bags of the corn based feed....nd I save money.

I see the difference in my wallet, the waste no longer left polluting my pens , and how much better my dogs look.

I have found when your huntin hounds they way you should be hunted, they dont keep as much wait on em at all, their lein and muscled up. I have not seen a feed that will keep weight on a dog when hunted up right. I like their sides sucked in a little and muscle up. Summer time they look just fine on dog feed. Winter time we through some fat and mix it up with their feed. We save all fat from the deer we shoot and go to the local sloughter house and get some if needed. This will guarntee put wait on your hounds anytime you want if they are wormed out properly.....The dog food is mostly filler now days their not going to put anymore in it than they have to keep animals alive, they want to make as much money as possible.

Traxx, I am on Diamond Naturals (no corn, soy, wheat) on some of the dogs, your right I can tell a difference.......a difference I am not liking with it.

SS Advanced Active worked for my dogs and I was pleased with the results.

I would guess your dogs are either being fed too much of it or something else is reacting with them. I have NEVER had a bad reaction going from a corn based dog feed to a meat based feed.

Absolutly! Feeding less means the dog actually metabolizes the majority of the food while maintaining good weight. That means less poop! There is more to a healthy dog then just "weight and muscle"
