Yea, I think it is allowed in some forms, but no Team in the NBA plays it.

they all use zone features to deny penetration into the lane, but play combination defenses much more than a pure zone like some college teams use.... sagging man to man, man and 1/2 are defenses that utilize zone features in the traditional man to man... not much drake belly button defense left these days....

I Agree. What College Team are you a fan of ?

much more a fan of the game than specific teams, but like the current ky. squad for their quickness and hard play- outside shooting might hurt them... the orange are a real threat and play at both ends, kansas is tough, purdue played above their talent level-but the loss of hummel will really hurt them... over time was a john wooden fan- great coach innovator- 1-3-1 hi-lo post offense, great man to man with zone press 1-2-1-1, post offense is a thing of the past, current big men run all over the court- fire up 3s, the true post player is a thing of the past, the 3 pt. shot has helped to end the true post up player- would like to see hi-lo post with true big men playing big return to the game....

I used to love the 3 point shot. I hate it this year, lol, wish we could do away with it till next season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvOC...feature=channel an old Cat Chuck Hayes making a Pass

What you think happened to Ben Howland this year? I never thought he would fall that far. You think he will be back top 20 next year?

much more balance today, quite a few good teams, but no real total dominating ones like in the past... the fact that players leave in a yr. or two has also changed the game more to one of talent than learning to play the game... believe howland is a good coach that lacks talent to be top level plus they are not playing well either... believe he will get ucla back or someone else will, do not believe they will tolerate a less than successful program, but the wooden era is gone to never return.... the college game has become a temporary layover for players on route to the nba-training ground for the pros no longer the college game with student athletes who know how to play he game....

I always thought Howland was a very good coach, just dont like his style much.

Syracuse ""THE CUSE"" all the way baby

Posted by jdw2920 on 03-03-2010 05:04 AM:

When I think of syracuse I think of their zone defense. Not saying there offense isnt good just questionable its not a juggernat thats for sure. Pac 10 is down this year.

This could be the year that say a New Mexico or Gonzaga win it all because there is no team that is that far ahead of the pack.

I do believe that if Kentcuky can develop better outside scoring they will win it, but if they run into a long and quick team that has good zone they could be out in the sweet 16.

On another note Georgia will be very tough next year and have a chance to slip in by winning sec tourney. They are very young and dont think they have a senior that plays much.

Perry, I think UK needs to take some notes from Nova to see how the pick and pop//// pick and roll works. Also take some notes on how to make open jump shots.

Scotty Reynolds showed why he is the best player in the country again last night. He has been BIG EAST player of the week so many times I have lost count.

Only attempted 1 field goal last night in the first half. Second half made back to back to back 3 point plays and ended up with 17 points. Reynolds is one of the best in the country at getting to the rim and drawing contact, he just hasn't been driving to the rim as of late. He has made so many unbelievable lay ups this year. Watch him dive on the floor after loose balls. That's a real player.

Is UK going to loose 2 in a row tonight?

treberta nova did well in cuse this yr. lol you can say what you want about nova beating them so many times in a row which I can't argue but this yr is cuse all the way noone can handle there zone defense and people can say what they want about there shooting percentage but the bottom line is first place baby

I don't disagree they are very good!!!! 7 players ain't going to cut the mustard. NOVA will beat them next time they don't have 36,000 people cheering them on.

Replace Kentucky with Kansas State and I will agree with your top five.

LOL, I really had not paid much attention to villinova till you became my Friend, but after watching them 4 or 5 times, I hate to tell you but Kentucky would beat them 5 out of 7 Times. There are several teams that I think are Even with Kentucky or Maybe a Hair Better than Kentucky, But LOL, villinova aint one of them. In the Latest Bracketology villinova is a 2 seed in our Bracket, I would Love that, villinova will be the Weakest 2 seed of them all.

I Hope its not the Cuse, but hate to tell you most Championships are won with a 7 man Rotation, All the TV time outs give them plenty of rest.

WOW, Kansas put K St in their place tonight. Showed them how a Real Program Plays the Game. Kentucky Won at least a Share of their 44th SEC Conference Championship. Wall had 24 Points on 80% Shooting, 60% from Three, 100% from the Free Throw Line, with 6 Assist, 3 Rebounds and 1 Turnover.

I never have and never will base a players stats on a team that doesn't have a winning record. Georgia is terrible. They will be good in two years but far from good this year.

Perry, with Kansas State and Duke loosing last night that #1 spot is wide open.

If Villinova beats #7 West Virginia this weekend and does decent in the Big East tournament they will get that last #1 spot.

The Kentucky game wasn't even on tv on any of my sports channels.

I'm was so glad to see Duke get beat. I HATE overrated teams.

Joe Leonardi has 7 ACC teams getting in the tournament. What a crock. That league is way down this year. No ACC team is impressive.

Perry you dissappoint me how you see my wildcats. Jay Wright has been conserving minutes for the past month so they will be fresh in the NCAA tournament. I can't wait to see UK play Villinova or any BIG EAST team for that matter. VILLINOVA has been BY FAR THE SUPPERIOR TEAM OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS.

My gosh UK hasn't played a team in the top 10 all year and you think there the best HA!!!!!!

Like I told you Perry, Kentucky will turn the ball over to much in the NCAA. They will not hit there free throws down the stretch and they will not out shoot a good zone. Wait and see. I told you that a decent zone defense will beat them almost every time. Look how they did verse Tennessee. Uncontested jump shots that were bricked or air balled so many times I lost count.

Posted by treberta on 03-04-2010 07:06 PM:

Perry, you consider UK the best team based on individual talent.

Individual talent doesn not win championships.

The best two teams in the country that play team basketball is Syracuse and Kansas.
