In addition to Cleans Pkc earnings, he was also hunted at the Russ Meyer Invitational I can think of two different years by two different handlers. Don Dunlap won money with him there and Jeff Ricklefs also..... The best of the best show up at Russ' hunt.

I have hunted with a couple of Bone pups.

One is real tight on the ground, good tree dog and sensible.

The other is a nice hound, a coon treer that opens a little more but no rattle head. Honest mouthed sensible dog.

I find it unbelievable that anyone would critisize either one on their accomplishments.

He is a PKC Gold Champion if that is what you are referring to. You probably weren't hunting when they were hunting him.

We've never seen you at the other kennel clubs hunts either. Congrats on your dual champion.

I am sure both hounds are at the top when it comes to coon treeing. I have only been with one of them. He was just that the few nights I hunted with him.

I've been to a few, thanks. I like him

You guys are sure touchy. Original poster said they were both being hunted. I hadn't seen clean so I was curious. Never hunted with either of them, so I can't say either way. I'm sure they are nice. Making a dog a Gold CH is not easy to do.

I'll take Bones resume over cleans, but like I said, I am sure they are both quality dogs.

Im not familiar with what all Bone has won, so I cant say which has the better resume, but we do agree that both must be quality hounds.

Elvis like you said both hounds are good. Once you get over a certain level, you could blindfold yourself and pick one out of a pack and have something you could be proud of.

As far as what bone has won. It is over $71 thousand in PKC and $64 thousand in CHKC. Some of that money included trucks. I think he has won at least two of them. Seen several pups and I would surly breed a female to him. Money pays the bills so it always impresses me.

Next year's Trader hunt will pay out 25k plus.

They are out there. You just have to pay a lot for them. One thing about Trader pups being rare, and always out of good females, they are all going to get every chance to make a dog, and they will all be expensive.

Dempsey pups are eligible too, I know where one can be bought today for $500

Bruce, I have walked behind several of those big money winners. One of them won 30,000.00 on one lick and never treed a coon thruout the entire hunt. Not saying he couldnt or that he wassnt a good dog, just saying dogs are just dogs.

I never judge a dogs ability from one night. Every dog in the world has a bad night. Bruce is right. Winning a truck, or any large $$ event means that you have beat quality dogs IN EVERY CAST. That is what makes bone so impressive to me. He's still getting in these hunts late in his career. It amazes me

I have hunted with Bone and definately did not find him to be semi on track. He was full open on 3 tracks. He might be tighter with other dogs. I have raised and hunted with multiple pups from both dogs. The Bone pups are more independent and more accurate than most and can be tight on the ground but not always. Many of them are chop mouth on track but are all loud. The Clean pups are harder hunting than most some of which are pretty wild, with mostly bawl mouths on track and some bawl on tree. Both dogs have thrown good track dogs with above average speed. I would say from these that Bone has the edge on independence and accuracy, while Clean has the ege on drive with the Clean pups not being tree grabbers. You will definately get more bawl mouth from Clean than Bone.

i have had in my kennel 1 pkc world champion,2 super stakes winners and 2 others that are on the all time money winners list.
I have had in my kennel 2 akc world champions and 3 ukc world champions.
Im telling you this just to let you know that I am not judging anything on one nite, i hunted these dogs hard.
To say that one kennel clubs winners are better dogs than the others comes from negligence.

I am going to lean towards the $$ winner more often than not. That being said I would love to win a major UKC event someday if I ever have a hound good enough to do it.

Of this group; which dog would you say was the best and the second best?
No real reason...I'm just curious.

Most Bone pups are chop mouthed? That sucks.Ive only hunted with 1 of his pups.Flat out coondog.Bawl mouth on track, and kinda tight on the ground. Every tree he made had a coon.Sure impressed me.

Its hard to say which was best. They all had their strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes favorites trump best.
If you held a gun to my head id say in her prime Bellar Ann was the best coondog. I didn't get her till after her prime and only had her a few months but when Ricklefs,Coulter, and Engle were hunting her she was a vacuum cleaner on them ringtails.
