I hunted with a man on 2 different nights he stood with his garman in one hand and his shocker in the other every time his dog would get close to another dog he would shock it then when the dog came in and would not go hunting he beat it, he advertises this dog as being independent a born loner, I have not went with him again.

That's exactly what I want my dog looking for. I'm not much on sitting around listening to a dog dig a hole in the ground trien to grub up a bad track. I hunt walkers not blueticks. If you like that its fine with me but I don't so the tone helps me to make a dog the way I like them without frien his brains out all the time. I also want a independent hound and I don't care if its man made or natural the tone can work well with that as well. If you want to tone yours in that's fine with me but mine better not come back unless I call his name.

I have never tone or shock a dog to make them come in or be independent , you can do what you want, but one thing you do not want top do is come up north when it is cold because you will not tree many coon with your hot nosed dog. and I hunt walkers also, that can take a old, old cold track and put a coon at the end. and I do not and would not own a hot nosed dog.

Buddy I hunt all over at all times a year and never had a problem treeing coons anywhere in this country. And most the time I'll be deep and alone doing it. Not saying my method is right or wrong but it makes what I like in a hound. Deep and alone with a coon wins more times than not.
