You never know what cross could produce the first world champion bluetick. I never heard anyone brag on Smokey River JBS Chief that hunted with him, but he produced several nice hounds. Just my 2 cents again. No hate mail please.

THAT IS SO TRUE. I SEEN HIM GO A COUPLE TIMES UP HERE WHEN RON WENTLAND WAS HUNTIN HIM AND AM PART OF THE GROUP YOU SPEAK OF. THE BIGGER QUESTION TO ME IS, WHY DID ANYONE BREED TO HIM? GOES TO SHOW YA THAT DOGS GET BRED TO FOR OTHER REASONS THAN ABILITY. <v>

i would say he was bred to because smokey river hoss was 2nd in the world and was off chief and thinkin there was 10-13months difference in age.

The times that I hunted with Chief I could see that he was not a track dog, but he was an overpowering treedog that when he got hooked he was there until you pulled him off the tree.........Tim

Do it again. No, I won't go into detail, but a person just know's. There are a number of stud owners that have that "no" there, it just has to come out that way to protect your name. We did turn down, I know of either 3-4 females to Bullet, because of breeding or some to something else.

I voted no, I would not turn someone down because of the way their female is bred. Truth is none of us through our infinate wisdom really know what cross is or isn't going to work. Also don't know what the other guy is looking for in a "coon dog". We all have our own ideas, opinions and plans and if another guy wants to use my stud for one of their ideas, I consider it an honor!

Never worried to much how they were bred, I do have my own preferences but as far as turning away a gyp because of her breeding? Never knew it was a issue until I read this post LOL... As far as breeding to certain bloodlines ? The first gyp that was bred to my old JYD was a GRNTCH walker female coonhound turned bear dog. Lol
