I voted no! how they are breed shouldn't matter, its what they do that matters most...had several cross breed grade dogs that I used to hunt in the early 80's that were pretty dang nice. use to folks would breed to anything that was a good coondog no matter how they were breed or what color they were. of course its not like that now because you don't see grade dogs casts in the hunts anymore so folks try and stick to there own color of dogs.

i also voted no...i feel folks sometimes worry more about titles than dogs...some of the best dogs ive hunted with are tied out behind a barn..and nobody has a clue..the guys that own them dont even know where the papers are hahah they had them at one time lol

YES

I voted yes mainly to ruffle some feathers. I cant say for sure but here is a scenario; Guy brings you a nice nice gyp that he wants to breed to your male that you have spent countless hours hunting and promoting, a very good friend of yours whom you trust says she is flat mean period and you hunted against her daddy and he was the same and most folks consider that line a lil ouchy. Now when these pups turn out meaner then a rattler who do you think is GOING TO GET BLAMED?

I agree with this

Seems the stud dog get,s the credit, good or bad, I have always contested that the females have been left out of the equation for to long, Rather it be buying a pup, or breeding issues, It,s always about the the stud, Good or Bad......Gerald

I voted yes.

Question was...

How their bred. Not whether they are mean or no good. Don't think I would turn one down on how their bred alone if they're a good one.

some lines carry traits that are undesirable, of coarse that takes us right back to what one wants to hunt, really it is a matter of opinion and your needs, some prefer to sit on the tailgate and listen to old blue work a cold track that takes half the night to get it treed, some want a 5 to 25 min. track then go look at a coon, I prefer the ladder my self, if you don,t really care what you get I guess you just vote no and breed away.....Gerald

Just said, " I would not turn a female down just on the way their bred." If being mean is a factor, I wouldn't want anything to do with it either. Sorry for the confusion.

Their are certain crosses that have had traits I didn't care for in the past, and if one was brought here, i would say no. I wouldn't ever be a stud owner due to the fact I would have to hunt with a female before tying her to my stud dog, and some of the responses on here are a good example of why it wouldn't work.

how many of the ones who said yes have a stud dog and what have they thrown.... there is no money in a stud dog if you bred every gyp someone brought you... i personally as long as they have a clean bill of health will breed anything someone wants to breed to my male....

female

The female in question is not mean, can tree her own coon in style and does so on a regular basis, good mouth, good conformation, starts hunting the minute she is turned loose, can tree a lay up, can drive a track with the best of them, i think she is pretty nice or she would not be eating my dog feed. The reason i was given was because the cross i wanted to make is a uncle niece cross said it was to close.

I THINK THAT UNCLE X NIECE IS THE BEST WAY TO LINEBREED AND SET TRAITS. I DONT KNOW IF I WOULD USE THAT STUD IF ITS OWNER IS THAT DUMB ABOUT BREEDING ANY TYPE OF COMP. ANIMAL

jmo but one can see it both ways me personally if a man thinks enough of their female to spend the money to breed to your dog then why wouldnt you accept their money and breed to her!
