LACK OF CALCIUM

GIVE THE PUPPY 1 CALCIUM PILL A DAY THAT WILL HELP THE PROBLEM

You need to seek a different vet. Send this pup to me and I'll have her cured in a week. I had one that got a little worse of than yours. I gave him the cod liver oil, put him on a lower protein/fat food like 21-8 or some type of low octane adult food (your pup is growing too fast). You will only need to feed this for a week or two so a small bag will be fine. Do not over feed. Feed the low end of the recommended amount. I also gave a vitamin supplement that contained vitamin d and calcium.

Do not let your pup run around on concrete or slippery surfaces. There bones are growing faster than the ligaments are and causing the deformation. Slippery surfaces will agrivate the condition. Do this and you will see results in a couple days. Pup will be fine.

what kind of water is the pup getting tap water(really clorinated up)? or well water. Definetly need sunlight or it will be a small dog also.

Do you know what kind & brand name of food this pup was on when you got her ? How many times per day did they feed her ?

Did her legs look like this on the day you bought her, or did this happen AFTER you had her for awhile ? If it happened after you got her, how long after ? Does she seem to have any pain in the legs ?

vitamin D a calcium, get pet tabs and feed just a small amount of milk every other day, had a runt pup my brother-in-law took looked worse than yours, brought him back here 3 weeks ago feed diamond warm water and pet tabs been standing upright for 6 days now. Also heard Equate 600mg calcium with D added will help..

LUCK-Is when opportunity & Preperation Meet

She wasn't like this when I got her. I got some calcium pills and cod liver I have been using imma start the calcium tomorrow. She is on a grass kennel no hard surfaces and they said it wasn't rickets and needed surgery I think that has a lot to do with the money thing. Should I do powdered milk to? Non from the litter are like this but my kennels get 0 sunlight at all. Should I move her?

i would move her so she could get some sun. Dont qoute me but i believe u get some amnts of vitamin d from sunlight. I know that is why it is important reptiles get a full spectrum bulb. Also vitamin d is very important because it helps the body absorb the calcium youre givin her~if u dont get her vitamin d she wont be able to use that calcium nearly as much

I am not going to get the surgery it is way to expensive but I am going to calcium and cod liver and plenty of sun light

Pups legs

Your pup looks like it has, Juvenile Carpal Flexural Deformity. This is a condition in pups when their bones and muscles grow at two different speeds. The bones have grown faster then the muscles. Most of the time it it caused by too much nutrition at a young age. Start feeding your pup the exact amount of puppy food called for on the bag and give him a half a pet tab vitamin a day. To much food and nutrition can make it a lot worse. Calcium pills will make it worse, there is a good chance that it's gonna get worse on it's own before it gets better. The muscles need to catch up to the bones. Do not try to splint or brace the legs, that will make it worse. It is NOT hereditary, it is one of those freak things that happens some times. There is no sure fix for this condition, only time. It can take up to 6 months to grow out of this. Most pups grow out of this, but some don't. Your pup is to young to hunt or mess with, and I know it's hard to look at, just give him some time. I hope this helps out. Contact your vet and have him research Juvenial Carpal Flexural Deformity. Just for the record.... I'm not a vet, just my own educated opinion that this is the condition that your pup has.

I was just fixing to post close to what Bengie said but couldn't remember all the details. I know it was discussed on here one time about the two bones in the legs growing at different speeds. I think too much protein had an effect.

I would put it on a good feed but not high protein and I think everything will come out ok.

I believe Purina one Large Breed Puppy has something in it to help prevent pups growing to fast .
Years back I used to take pups off Purina Puppy chow around 3 months and switch to the old Hi-Pro , mostly because the puppy seemed to be loose & messy stools , but it seemed to work for me .
I miss Hi-Pro , especially in the 50# bags when you're feeding several dogs . One of the reasons I buy Purina One at Sam's Club is because it comes in 44# bags . Not necessarily a lot cheaper but a little handier .

FOOD

I SOLD ONE (PUP) TO A MAN AND HE CALLED ME BACK A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER AND HIS PUP DID THE SAME THING . I TOOK IT BACK AND FED IT A GOOD QUALITY PUPPY FOOD ( IAMS) AND IN A WEEK THE PUP STRAIGHTENED RIGHT UP . THE VET FIQURED HE WAS FEEDING ADULT FOOD AND THE PUP MAY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GROW TOO FAST .

Yeah the vet called it is circular limb demformity or something she will grow out of it just to keep her on puppy chow and no Vitiams. David she is out of your jack dog this johnathan. She is out cash's suzie and your blackjack. I am hoping for a quick fix in her

Adult food makes them grow slower not faster, this is why great danes are only fed adult food and never puppy. They are normally fed food around 24/12. The calcium/phos in puppy food can be too high. Look for food in the range of 1-1.2% cal and .08-1.0 phos. Some dogs even smaller breeds cannot handle high protein of puppy food.

If you have a puppy with bone development issues drop the protein down to 18-20% until its corrected (than move up to 24%), give 1,500 mg of vit C and a cod liver oil pill a day.

MSM is also good to give
MSM corrects mal absorption of other nutrients such as minerals whose imbalance relate to problems such as osteochondrosis (HOD, OCD, Pano). It also helps with pain and inflammation.
