Take her to the vet and let them give a shot that will help her absorb the vitamins that she needs. I had a pup do this and it was caused by us feeding him good nutrious food and using vitamins. Go figure!!

I would ask the vet about taping those legs or i know sometimes they will add braces to the dogs legs to give them some structure...sort of like a cast would.

I dont think your kennels not getting sunlight has anything to do with it. That cod liver oil should help it. it may take a few weeks. It is from the pup not getting the nutrients it needs. Maybe pup was pulled off mom to early. But it should come out of it. I got one right now just like yours. I got it at 6 weeks old. I think they took them off the mom at 4 weeks. So may not be to healthy on them. Just trying to help. also powdered Milk could help it. But your feeding it puppy chow, So Diet i dont think is it. Could also be slightly hereditary. Keep us posted how yours turns out.

its a Vit D deficiency that causes ricketts. you get vit d from the sun and supplements and certain veggies.

talk to the breeder, they should make it right, and if you can get names of other buyers talk to them to see if they have same issues. if not, you may have gotten who doed.

I was not aware sunlight helps rickets. But glad to know now. But if this pup was vet checked and said its not ricketts. Then its hereditary. Would you not think? I raised pups in the basement before where not any sunlight and they never done that. They were all fine.

The vets do the best they can but arent always right. All animals need some sun. Put him where he can get sun and give him vitamins..might do the trick. Especially if this is the second time its happened to you. Let us know how it turns out.

SUNSHINE!

FYI... Just want to say to all you humans... SUNSHINE and vit. d are VERY VERY important for all of us. I suffer from Vit D deficiencies... and it stinks... and is painful etc... My family has a BIG history of skin cancer and my dad was a plastic surgeon so I was one of the kids who was slathered with sun screen.... that would have been ok IF I had been a milk drinker and got adequeate vit d that way...but they didn't know when i was young... so the cheese I ate was enough calcium...we thought... I guess what I'm trying to say is all of you guys and gals need to be sure you get enough vit d calcium and 15 minutes of "vitamin d sunhine" a day... in the north we lose the Good Sun in fall and winter.... Very important you kids get this and also your dogs!!! Cod Liver oil is the supplement of choice for pups. Us humans get less "tasty" pills thank God!

I hope that things work out with you and your pup and the breeder etc... very sad to see this kind of thing. May be worth a second opinion as well??? Sunshine is IMPERATIVE for ALL living creatures...
Heather
