brought the skull in and looks like it will measure roughly 19 and 12/16 that enough for the record book(18 is the low), i would of never thought my 1st pope and young entry would be a bear, i'm pretty excited hope my deer season is just as good if not better, sure would like to stick and string about a 150 +.

AWESOME

Great Bear Wade. as they all said you did the right thing and backed out of there. it is probly the hardest thing you can do besides drawing back your bow for the shot. but 9 times outa 10 it pays off. again great bear!!! best of luck to your buddy.

Bear

Wade,
Congrats, I have been up there in your county bear hunting and have pushed a poorly hit bear. (Not mine of course) but none the less it was a loooooooong night. We did not have to drag that one out of the woods.
This bear may be your first but I would be willing to bet this will not be your last and the rest of them you take will not be as big as this one. So if I were you I would not use 350+ lbs as a minimum for your next bear you may just be waiting a long time to tag another one that nice.
I have a tag down here this year but the baits have just shut off with all the acorns dropping. I am also far enough south that I can not run them with hounds so it adds a little more pressure. Bear hunting where there are not many bears and with a ton of acorns falling ever day is not making for a good hunt for me.

Glad to see all you time in the woods preparing and all the time in the back yard shooting paid off.

The best way to size a bear or lion is ground check them they say! Congrats on the kill.......

I haven't killed a bear yet but I would do the same thing. I have done it with deer.
