Sorry for not responding back more quickly. There is no problem hitting the tree tops. This is the brightest light I have seen. I have a couple surefire weapon mounted lights, and this is by far brighter. Mine is on the 21v five star battery pack. With the 5 position switch. Then the head has a rheostat dimmer. It is very bright. Prob 3 to 1 over a typical 5100 on a 21v. Plus with the dimmer, u can dim it as much as u want for a walk light.

Gotta wonder about these lumen ratings, the g2 is rated at 840 and the new bright eyes is rated at 1200 but 1guy said they looked the same in the trees. So who knows?
