thanks chi chi

this board has been full of threads like these over the years with people predicting a REAL coondog would win if only the hunt was moved to a different location or time of year. So last winter akc moved theirs to the south in the winter and ill be danged if the same dog that had won it in ohio in thick coon with leaves on didnt win it again. Buck Creek Mr. Smith must be a REAL coondog.

Wipeout Speck won a world hunt where the coon are scarce and then won another where they are plentiful. Speck must be a REAL coondog.

I have been fortunate enough to have hunted with a dozen or so world champions over the years and although they were all just dogs, none of them were the type that had to rely on leaves to win. Leaves hindered them from receiving way more plus points than they ever saved them from takeing minus.

you are just not gonna win the ukc world hunt with a dog that makes a habit of treeing without haveing a coon.

"Fellas, go back and look up the play by play for last years World Hunt final four. They made alot of trees, 5 or 6 I believe and I don't recall that they had a single slick or circle. They found a coon in every tree that was shined. You still wanna tell me you can't tell anything about a dog with the leaves on? My reply would be too many can't tell anything about a coondog period."

Jim nailed it there. Most of the people who are on here bitching and whining and "what iffing" don't even hunt on a semi regular basis, let alone take the time to get one qualified, take it to zones, and then on to finals. Quit whining and go get a dog that will get treed.

If your dog runs, and trees a coon, 90% of the time you will see it if you know how to shine a tree. If he's there, you'll see him. I'd about gaurantee you take any ONE of the last three UKC world champions, Janice, Quick, or Jane. And put that ONE world champion up against any 3 dogs owned by computer coonhunters that get on here an gossip and whine about everything, in a 4 dog cast, 2 hours.........Take all three scores of latter mentioned dogs and put against single score of world champion..........Leaves on or off...........1 dog beats 3 others combined.

Good Day.

any dog that gets in the finals of the world hunt is some of the best we got out there, i dont think it would make no difference what time of year for the best of the best but a circle or minus could make a difference on who gets to the final four. or even one more round. i like to hunt in the winter & i think november would be great. some dogs dont operate as good in warm whether so who knows what could happen. the great ones are going to be hard to beat any time of year !!

Posted by cowboyjones on 08-26-2008 09:58 PM:

DONT MATTER THIS AINT ANOTHER KC, YOU DONT WIN WITH CIRCLE, A COON DOG WILL WHEN IT WITH THE LEAVES ON OR OFF AND ANYTIME OF THE YR!! IM TRYING TO FIND THAT HOUND! PM IF YOU GOT IT!! LMAO

You cant have it during deer season in the SOUTH! Thats a fact..Jan would not bother me.Dont matter when or where..Your not gonna change the results..Sliick treeing idiots are not winning these hunts like people on here believe..If they are. These folks dont have the dog power either..Why dont their dogs go on a tree coons while ol slick is barking up every one he comes to...Circle trees are the same..If the coon aint there their dogs should not be treeing on the tree..

I'm not complaining, I could care less when the world hunt is held...... people think that they can find every coon (if ones there), I'm just pointing out that during the summer (down here), u me & anyone else will not be able to find 'em all.......

Or better yet , how do you know that those in the World Hunt are?

simple, I know my dog...... I know what they do when there are no leaves and they r hunting the same woods, treeing the same coon w/ leaves as they r w/out..... i know my dogs well enough, I know if there is a coon in the tree whether I find it or not...

when did I say anything about any World Champ was a "tree happy nut"??????????? I never mention the W.C.'s, your the one that brought up world champs...... my post was directed to u... I was simply saying I know my dog well enough to know if there is a coon in the tree or not and because I can't find 'em all when leaves r on there is no cause for alarm (because w/ no leaves I'll find him)......

I wasn't trying to prove my dog & wasn't asking u to prove urs... I was asking u to prove yourself, if u think u can find 'em all.....

janis can eat my feed aney time,,,becals if she was no good russ or you one would cull her

Its harder to find the coon with leaves on the tree but that is not why I want the date to change.
Number one reason is that people in the south can not hunt a dog enough to be ready for the world hunt.
Its too hot for a dog to be hunted hard and there are a lot of snake and gators in the swamps.
We can hunt every night during the winter but you up north can't.
I would like have it in feb. but I don't think the northern dogs would be ready.

I pick late Nov. or early dec. maybe will be fair for both.

Posted by eastky on 08-27-2008 09:11 PM:

i hunt

6-7 nights a week when its hot the same in winter the dogs can take it the question is can the hunter

Posted by Casey on 08-28-2008 12:09 AM:

Yeah, Its rough on the hunters too.

in the 80's at night and with this high humidity, a dog can't take many turn outs.

It took us about 30 minutes the other night to get to the tree and our 2 year old hound about over heated.

Posted by GA DAWG on 08-28-2008 12:34 AM:

Heat has nothing to do with it..If you dont slow down your hunting. The dogs will adjust just fine.Well almost all them will.

I hunted the world last year we made a couple circle trees but theres way more plus than circle. I cant rember for sure but I think there where 26 casts in round 1 and something like 160 some coons scored. If you make it to the world you are packing a coondog that has had to tree some coons. I know them skeeters up north will eat you but treeing 5 or 6 coon in 2 hours sure is fun.
