Hey Todd-
hes' the kind that doesn't enjoy setting around at a hunt watching you and Amy telling stories or listening to you answer questions on different things. Or watching the "hounds show kids" at the kids show. Or the best thing of it all, just being there able to hunt!

I`m in agreement with everyone else. Can`t start the day or a hunt w/o it. I care too much for me and my dogs and the folks I hunt with, not to pray.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!!!

Folks i believe we should only pray on days that end with y. other than that maybe we should not pray. heres the big one. how many of us after reading that has stoped to pray for that man. if we have not we should not put nothing on here about him. (john 3:17) but we should voice our opinion about prayer at the hunts . im all for it we should pray without ceasing i would be more than glad to lead a hunt in prayer. so Todd if no one else prays im still going to pray even if i have to step to the side. keep up the good work at the hunts. i think yall are doing a good job............. gary woods

got to have prayer

Went to my frist UKC hunt afew years back. When that big old hairy moh asked someone to lead the prayer my jaw dropped in shock. I was very pleased to be a new member of such fine group people. ukc and all local clubs should always have prayer before every single event. PROUD TO BE WITH U.K.C. Paul Keen

That guy's an indiot!

Don't he realize, that without GOD, there would be no coons, coon dogs, coon hunting, or coon hunters, or anything else for that matter???

I bet he has some ocean front property for sale in Arizona, too?!

The way I see it, is if no one wants to listen to a prayer being led before we go hunting LET THEM GO OUT SIDE UNTIL IT'S OVER!!! Because I wouldn't want them in the same building with me while the prayers being said anyways if they don't believe in GOD. Why stand there and listen to something that you don't believe in.

Remember:

It's always better to be an honest sinner, than a hipocritical Christian.

That's my $.02 worth!!!

stand your ground

You are correct. AND I Contend that even if taxpayer dollars are being used or taken from an organization, that prayer should be allowed. Not mandatory mind you, but optional. After all, pull out a dollar bill and flip it over and read what is on the back right there in the middle. It says, "IN GOD WE TRUST".

Keeping this in mind, I think it is a form of "prayer" every time you whip out your wallet and drop 15 bucks at the local hunt. Pray on brothers and sisters.

After all, hunting what I hunt, prayer is becoming more and more common in casts that I am on!!!

please dear lord

as we all go into the woods tonite, please watch watch over me and my dog. i pray all his points be plus and all his trees have very curious coons in them. i pray you protect all the hunters and dogs but please keep mine out in front.... amen

sound familar

i really do like the prayers before the hunts. i was really impressed at the first hunt i attended, but didnt think it the norm. i have since found out different. my real prayers go out for a fun and safe time had by all.in the heat of hunt that we dont forget to be good sports and have fun even if we lose.

WELL GLORY, ill just let yuns in on a little secret. iv been thinking about this for a while . since ive started doing pkc ive noticed that ive yet to see a prayer at one of thier hunts. and at every hunt ive been to in UKC there has been a prayer said. i like the fact that so many are for prayer. seems that when you think that all is lost you have some good people turn up and support that which is the very reason this world is still here. well ill hush before i get started but think about this all that wants prayer stopped. if people keep taking GOD out of this and that and everything we do , he [GOD] might just take us out for good.

How sad...

if it gets left out, I know that I would, and many others would just give up on the events. That's just stupid....IMHO

If you don't believe in the prayer, don't pray. But don't penalize the rest of us that THANK GOD everyday for being ABLE to go to those competitions.

Being late is too bad, but I bet that prayer is what made you late and not dead....

Nice Company here

This awesome to see all of these responses that are the same. Thank God for all these coon hunters that are good examples and keep praying to God that the folks like the guy that complained find Jesus before it is too late for them.

Posted by Mark A. Hauck on 08-07-2003 01:13 PM:

PLEASE

Don't stop. I think most folks forget that this veery country they live in was FORMED on the principle of Religous freedoms. That's right, our founding Fathers of this great country came here to escape the practice of Govt forced beliefs. Maybe it's not taught in scholl anymore because of political correctness, but that is the #1 reason we are the country today "USA"

So, with that ever so much etched in stone, NEVER STOP THE ABILITY OR DESIRE OF THOSE WHO WISH TO GIVE THANKS TO THEIR GOD. It's the one thing that makes us so very different than any other country in the World.

Just remember, God was taken out of the school systems and the school systems have plenty of problems, drugs, assault, murder and overall degeneration. God has exited many families as less people go to church and maintain a Sabbath. We now have kids raised in split homes without a family group. Rarely do families sit down together at suppertime and even fewer ask for God's blessing. If God is not in every facet of our lives, our life will decay the same as all other Godless activities.

Some people awake each day to say, "Good Lord. it's morning already" while others awake and say, " Good morning Lord." Now tell me, who would you rather spend your day with?

Posted by mudcreek on 08-07-2003 04:55 PM:

You know this is easy

If the majority wants a prayer have it, those that don't want it don't have to partcipate. As a person that has my own beliefs that I won't go into here, I would stay and bow my head quietly out of respect not only to a higher power but for my fellow man. And that's what it really boils down to respect for what others may want.

Now, I have to say this those that called this guy an IDIOT or other things to demean him for not believing the way they do is not much different than what he said.

Prayer

Prayer has stopped me from making it to the satelite club. Because at some hunts I can't make it back to Church on Sunday morning. So, I just stay at home where I can make it to Church. The Lord only knows how we as humans need the prayer.

If a prayer delayed anyone from making the satelite club, I couldn't think of a better reason to be late for.

We all should take a minute and pray for those folks needing the Lord.

I find the pre hunt pray complaint rediculious.... what does the average prayer last 2 maybe 3 minutes. Let's get real and find a new excuse for being late. Keep praying.

Maybe he was "lost" and could not find his way to the club? Maybe he should have been participating instead of listening to the pre-hunt prayer, he might not have been late?

In PKC's defense, the last bigger event I was at, they had a pre-hunt prayer. The insinuation behind the statement that they don't have prayer before the hunt is a pretty judgemental, and a little out of line, IMO.

Posted by on 08-07-2003 09:21 PM:

I've been to 4 UKC hunts in the last two weeks and didn't hear any praying at any of them. Is this something they just do at the big events?

Posted by Tank/UKC on 08-07-2003 09:26 PM:

We have a prayer...

before the cast are drawn at every UKC event in North Carolina.

Some were long-winded, some were to the point all were welcomed.

The bigger events do a national Anthem and an invocation prior to starting them coondawg engines...

I believe the guy that did this would have been in my cast because he said somethin about the prayin to me after the MOH had done called deadline. He said that he came to coonhunt, not pray. I think we all need prayer in our lives not only through coonhuntin. If i twasn't for prayer I would have ever made it through the loss of my grandfather. And prayer is what keeps us and our dogs safe at these hunts. Atleast the Lord is humble enough to let us talk to him so we should do it every chance we get.

I AGREE IF AN INDIVIDUAL DOES NOT WANT TO PARTAKE IN PRAYER SO BE IT. I WANT PRAYER IN MINE. THE PRAYER OF A RIGHTOUS MAN AVAILETH MUCH. SO PLEASE PRAY FOR ME.
