CAN YOU USE LIGHTED COLLARS ON YOUR DOG WHILE YOUR HUNTING?

ALSO, WILL THEIR BE DEADLINES FOR THE HUNT TEST? LIKE SAY ANYONE WANTING TO ENTER A HUNT TEST HAS TO BE AT THE CLUB BY 8:30.

WHAT ABOUT DEADLINES TO TURN THE HUNT TEST IN?

DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLUB TO COLLECT THE HUNT TESTS TO BE MAILED TO UKC?

COULD A GROUP OF PEOPLE GO OUT, HAVE AN INSPECTOR, HAVE ONE PERSON HUNT ONE DOG AND WHEN IT'S TIME IS UP, HUNT ANOTHER DOG, AND SO ON? SO THE SAME INSPECTOR COULD INSPECT MORE THAN ONE DOG PER NIGHT IF HE HAD THE TIME TO DO IT?

Yes, lighted collars are permitted. Same as with nite hunts.

Unlike nite hunts, entry deadlines will not be "firm". That's because you are not competing against anyone. I don't think there will be a return deadline? You do need to get the evaluation back to the club in time to turn it in for credit.

The club does collect the evaluations and fills out the hunt test report. Both passes and fails are recorded on the report. An officer of the club must sign the hunt test report and send it in with a recording fee of $3 per dog.

Yes, an inspector goes out with his group to be inspected. The size of which is going to depend on the number of dogs there to be inspected and how many inspectors the club has on hand. I would say doing two dogs a night per inspector is about right. I did three the other night and it was a long night. Well...for a light weight like me it was long, lol.

HAVE YA'LL THOUGHT ABOUT TYING THIS INTO THE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM? BECAUSE THIS MORE SO THAN A NITE HUNT IS A TEST OF A DOG'S PERFORMANCE.

IS THERE A MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF HUNT TESTS THAT COULD BE HELD WITHIN ONE 30 DAY (MONTH) PERIOD?

No, the hunt test format will not be going into performance fund.

The maximum number of times a dog could compete in 30 nights is 30 times, once per night.

? #1 From what i read there is no time out so if you turn out at 8:00pm it is over at 9:00pm + 15min if the dog is still runing a track and has not yet treed
? #2 Can one handler inter more than one dog per night

Not sure I understand your first question but yes, you just need to hunt the dog one hour. The only time you give him the additional 15 minutes is if he's opening on track and hasn't satisfied his pass requirements yet. If you do find it necessary to move, just make a note of how much time you've used and start it up again when you get to your new spot.

This makes no sence at all. Local clubs can't get judges for NTCH cast yet they will be expected to come out and judge a single dog. I agree that all the dogs should be able to hunt,run,and tree coon by theirselves. But this is totally upon the owner of the dog if he or she likes that style of dog. 3 dogs want to go out, so one man has to judge 3 different times or 3 judges. If this is the case, then why can't we go back to none hunting judges in NTCH casts?

This would make it hard on a club to get the amount of Inspectors it needs to give up there nite of hunting for other's I would do this. for my Club, You would need a lot of suport from members. A LOT!!!!!!!!!

I think 5$ would be fair
Or maybe 3$ for club and 5$ to the inspectors for each dog he inspects

I just can't agree that just anybody should be able to inspect. There are enough accusations about the " buddy " thing going on already in the Nite Hunts. Just think what this might open up. LOL
Instead of having 2 other guys there ( cast members on a nite hunt ) to keep them honest , now you have them out there all alone.
Punches a BIG HOLE in the value of the " Hunt Test " title for me.

I have been wondering about something and since it has not been asked I guess I will be the dummy and ask it. What I "envisioned" was the club pairing 2 guys who are not regular hunting partners together and one judging the others dog for the first hour then the other way around for the next hour. Permissable? Too liberal? I mean lets face it most that show up will want to hunt a dog. I cant see a dozen or more guys showing up just wanting to judge. Thoughts?

I have been pondering this since I read about it in bloodlines. I think the concept is great for people like me that only comp hunt a few times a yr in the local club. But I have grave questions that until I hear Todd/UKC respond my gut says the buddy system will take it over.
My big question is this
1) Will those on the Barred and Suspened List be allowed to put a dog in these hunt test?
2) Will the club with UKC approval be able to reject a hound that is entered by one of these people or their family or buddies?
3) If a hound has been scartched for fighting be allowed to use the HuntTest as a way to gain a title so that owner can sale pups?

I have a few more but not as important as I think these are. But I do think the concept is great but for sure some details need to be worked out by UKC that covers these points.

If you are barred or suspended you are restricted from having a dog you own involved in any licvenced, sacntioned event. You are also not allowed to participate, in the same said events.

Some similarities...

This hunt testing is similar in some respects to how a dog is judged for single registration. If I was to judge a dog to be registered as one of the breeds, he'd not only have to look the part, he'd have to perform in the woods and show me he or she can track and tree a coon or two. If those requirements can allow a grade dog to be registered as one of the recognized breeds, then that same criteria would seem to be adequate to allow a "pass" for any breed of coon hound. The hardest part is finding someone to judge...maybe get a representative for each of the breeds...or two...or three and have them judge their own breeds. I for one, wouldn't want a hound registered as part of my breed if he or she can't track and tree a coon. It's not that complicated from my point of view...the most difficult thing is to find the people willing to judge the dog honestly. The rule also isn't that complicated...it says the dog has to show that it can track and tree a coon alone. Who cares about style...there's lots of different styles of dogs that can tree a coon and as long as it passes the basic requirement...then it would be a pass. When we let the opinions of different people determine what's acceptable as a coon dog or not...then you've got trouble because one man's treasure is another man's trash. The rule says track and tree a coon alone and regardless of the style, if it makes the owner happy...good enough.
