Hunt Test Update

The hunt test page looks like it might be up and running by the end of the day. You will be able to schedule events, download forms, etc. Obviously you won't be able to see a listing of upcoming events because we don't have any scheduled.

If anyone is in the position with your club to be able to schedule one this afternoon, give me a call or email and I'll get it listed for you. That way when the page gets enabled, there will be one listed in the upcoming events listing so everyone can see how that looks.

Remember, the date you select has to be at least 30 days out. When is your next meeting? Set up a hunt test for after your meeting.

If you call me now I'll schedule it for free!

Todd, I am still looking for how we are gonna have these Judged. Will there be a test that has to be administered to become a Judge or can anyone do it?

Yeah, I was just kidding about that free thing. There is no fee to schedule a hunt test.

If we schedule one today, it will need to be October 5th or after.

No, anyone can inspect provided they understand and agree to the following:

1. They have not bred, trained or housed the dog they are inspecting and are not a regular hunting partner of the owner or handler of the dog.

2. They have coonhunted for at least five years, are familiar with and can identify the Standard Requirements and Standard Faults.

3. That the evaluation they sign off on is accurate and any misrepresentation is punishable by UKC sanctions.

4. An inspector cannot participate as an owner or handler on the night they are serving as an inspector.

Sorry Todd, I should have read more closely.

quote:
:
" Inspectors need not be licenced to evaluate dogs in a hunt test.
they need to be able to sign the evaluation form in agreement to three key elements.

1.) May not have bred, trained or housed the dog they are evaluating, and may not be a regular hunting partner of the owner or handler they are evaluating.

2.) They must be able to agree to the statement that they have been an active coonhunting participant for at least 5 years, and be able to identify the criteria for evaluating working coonhounds.

3.) They must sign a release that the evaluation is true and accurate to the best of thier ability, and that they acknowledge the fact that any misrepresentation on the part of the inspector is punishable by UKC sanctions."

Sorry I should have not skimmed this area.

The artickle in the book does not read the same as what you posted Todd! It's close but there are some differences. Do I have to come down there and bother you again?

Looking at the test requirements, I see a "crossed out" coon can only be scored one tree away from the dog. Now there is one that needs to find it's way into the night hunt rule book!

TK- Can you please define "regular hunting partner". I'd like to get involved with these hunt tests but I have probably at one time up to maybe a dozen times hunted with most of our club members that would be interested in this program. Would I be ineligible from judging they're dogs?
Maybe the clubs should get someone from outside they're club to do the judging but I'm sure that will be as easy as finding a MOH.

I would think that generally, club members prolly shouldn't judge fellow club members. Your club could judge your neighboring clubs members and those clubs can judge your members. Not saying that is the rule or policy but it would seem to be good for the integrity of the test.

What we are saying is that for many of us, it would about be impossible to say you can't judge anyone you know. Think of how many coonhunters you know? What we are saying is that for the integrity of the program you should not be judging your friends that you hunt with and vice versa. What JiM is suggesting is even a little more strict but I think would be a good club policy if a club has that kind of support.

I'm not saying you can't inspect someone you know. Just saying you can't inspect your friends. Seems simple enough. And I think by having the statement that says we will take disciplinary action if we find that you have misrepresented info will keep it on the up and up.

Just because I've hunted with them don't make 'em my friends! LOL!!
They're coonhunters for crying out loud!! Even the ones that are your "friends" in your time of need will stab you in the back, talk trash about your dog, hunt in your hunting turf, and will lie and cheat you in a dog deal.
I think I can get what you mean, I can judge a fellow club member's dog but I probably shouldn't judge a dog that I've handled in a hunt or started as a pup or family member's hound, or anyone that I hunt with a majority of the time.

Yes you can call timeout to move and find more woods to finish out your hour.
