Anyone else disapointed? Legends

I just got all 3 legends videos for christmas and found the time to watch them. What I was disapointed in was that we never got to see one dog cut loose, here one track struck or run. It was cool to here sweat locate that one but that was it. I thaught that all the dogs sounded to simalare since they recorded so close to the tree all the time every time. Sorry to complain but I realy thought I would have gotten alittle more bang for the buck.

not one in a thousand miles. I miss hearing the chase a bunch but the outher hunting and fishing has kept me sane for the last 3 years. Mama says only couple more years up here in the far north . If it werent for the hounds I would not look forward to moving back to the lower 48.

I seen F & T's Trading post had the Tomorrows Legends of Treeing Walker Coonhounds - VHS Tapes only - for $20. If I wasn't broke right now, I'd probably grab a copy.

I've watched them and liked them. There is only so much you can video on a dog and all I want to do is hear them and see whats in the tree.I also like the interviews. To each there own though.

I only watched the first DVD but in it, Brian almost never showed the coon. I really doubt if the dogs actually had a coon.

As a person who has done videos of my coonhounds for over 20 years, I know it is possible to get the tracking, locate, the dogs treeing, and show the coon.

I have some video clips posted on the English Classified Board under the title of English Power Videos. On some of my videos, I try to show some of the tracking, put the locate in, show the treeing, and of course, show the coon. It helps when the dogs HAVE THE COON! I will be posting 50-60 more Champion videos on that thread over the next year or so.

My video clips on the internet are edited for size (less than 10 minutes) and the video quality is sometimes lost so I can reduce the file size so the videos can be played over the internet efficiently. Also, some of the videos are very old taken with old camcorders, the new ones are much better. If I put them on DVDs, I leave it all in from strike to tree. I used to sell DVDs but these days, I just produce a few for pup buyers and friends. Sometimes I can show 5-6 generations on both sides behind my pups treeing coon from strike to tree.

There is a lot that can be done with videos. I could post full length with no file reduction that folks could download to a computer but the internet provider wants me to charge to view my videos. I am thinking about it. They collect the money and send me a check. Sounds like a good deal for me. LOL.

thanks Dave I have shot video 15 years ago that gave you a better evaluation of the dogs total performance. I was just disapointed is all.

It is very possible to collect video of your own dogs when you have endless hours to get a track close and every aspect just right. But try traveling all over the lower 48 states getting all of the top name stud dogs on video with sometimes only one track and tree to work with. I put my dog on the latest video and we videod the track but you couldnt hear him from being so far away so why put it on there if you cant hear it. The cost does seem high until you think about how many miles and hours spent on making one. Its better than breeding to a dog you have never heard or seen before.

The video would be a heck of alot better if it showed different breeds.

The bluetic people always get left out! What a shame!

Posted by wade hahn on 01-12-2010 07:16 PM:

yes it is hard with limited time to get the all aspectes of a hunt just right for video. but on every hunt they cut a dog loose. how did he take off hunting throwing gravel in your face, pissing on 7 bushes 3 tires then mossing on out there, babble, on and on but I bet there was some differance in the studs. how did the dog act when he was cut off that tree to get the next one going. If none of this stuff matters than this might be the reason so many people are complaining obout slick tree dogs. breading to any dog without more reserch than this video would be careless at best

Mr. Estep,

Nobody is "ignoring" the other breeds.....

The fellow that put this together did not set out to make sure that Black and Tans, Blues, English, Plotts, Redbones, and Leopards were not allowed to be on the video.

He offered a SERVICE to folks that were standing dogs at stud. For a small fee to cover his travel expenses, he would come and film, interview, and put your dog on the video.

Just so happens that most of the guys that chose to take advantage of it were walker owners.

Tailgate adventures offered something similar, and we had one redbone kennel step up...and the rest walkers. Nobody set out to exclude the other breeds, but they simply have to "step up"...and say they want to be counted....

I agree completly oak ridge. And I did not mind the price of the series at all.

Brian has video of the Rock dog on the second video.I am sure if you call him and pay him he would be more than happy to video your stud.

Heck, I don't feel left out. I just think the videos would be a heck of alot better if it had all sorts of breeds in it.

LOL, I don't think is that quite simple as stepping up and saying they want to be counted....................they have to step and say they want to be counted and pay $$$$$ to be counted.

I can see that with a Stud Dog DVD, but from my understanding, the Tailgate Adventures show, those episodes that are filmed, the hunters in the episodes have to pay to be in the episodes and the show's content on different hound hunting is based on people paying to be on the show???

At least that is what I read on the BGH forum in your partner's post.

Posted by Larry Atherton on 01-12-2010 08:49 PM:

I have all 3 DVDs. I use them to check out dogs that I like the way they are bred. Some I have liked their tree style and others I don't. That right there may save me several hundred miles to see a stud dog go. I use them now more to save money and time since family obligations comes first.

As pure entertainment though they are not designed for that.

PS I watch them when no one else is home.

You are partially correct.

We offer a package where, for a fee, we will come hunting with you, and you can showcase your kennel and your dogs and basically make it a very tasteful 30 minute "infomercial" about your dogs. It is/was open to all breeds of dogs...beagles, bassetts, treeing hounds, treeing curs....the whole gambit. For that fee, they get 6 months of advertising in the form of banner ads at the beginning and/or end of the show.

So not everyone paid to be on our show, only those folks that wanted to showcase their dogs or breeding program. This is not any different than having Michael Waddell come to your ranch to hunt...he doesn't do that for FREE....he gets paid to come promote your guide service or your amenities.... So if more walker owners than redbone owners choose to take this route, then yes in that aspect it drives content.

Last season we offered five premium kennel spots, our goal for Season II is to decrease that to four. One of which is spoken for as of right now. Five out of 13 episodes last year, and 4 out of 13 this year. Open to ANY BREED of dog....as long as it is a hound or tree dog..

I had a dog on the Legends video, and I too paid for that...

Well we have a tv show to show off our sport and like all good things we are going to turn on each other and do petty bickering till people look up and see how silly we are. Got to love it.
I didn't get to see any of it yet. Can some one tell me the good points of it other than the ones allready pointed out. I can't wait to get to watch some of them. Been wanting to see a big named dog go for a long time.
By the way I don't care how it is funded. Things arent free in this world and Buckshot will be the first to tell you how much he pays for his forum and things is his way or the highway. A tv show isn't free either and the studs are getting a lot of advertiseing so it should cost them. It is no differant than a commercial spot. These people are doing us good and I think we should suport them instead of pick things apart.
