Bear killed in Flint, Michigan

My wife was telling me that the local paper, Flint Journal, reported that a 175 lb black bear was recently killed on I-75 between Pierson and Corunna Rd near the Flint River.

Apparently, a passer-by asked if they could keep the carcass and the police released it to them.

Yeah...

I heard about that. I guess 3 people hit it with their cars. How crazy. I guess the bear population is resorting to moving south to find food. YIKES!!!!

If you ever want a hunt here in the mountains let me know.....my dogs killed (well I did) the biggest bear in the county last season. 495 pounds, that is very large for a mountain bear. The coast have a lot of bear and bigger....but I enjoy the mountain hunting. The boar never did tree and was shot 6 times on the ground over about 9 hours before it died.

That could be a good change of pace from the quagmires we hunt around here. It would be nice to get on some higher ground LOL!!! Here's a pic at a bear tree last fall that show's the tangles that the bears get us into.

I am blonde...

but as soon as I figure out how to put pictures on here I'll show you some. In the mountains we have some thicket, but they are ivy thickets, the main problem here is up and down, with rock cliffs. My hunts on the carolina coast look like that picture.. but instead of your auger thickets they have saw briars...and lots of swamps. To crawl in on your belly in 1 foot of swamp water on an old cut trail 10 inches high under the water and 1 foot head room...ahhhhhh....they can keep it. Another problem here is access to the dogs. There are a lot of places the dogs go that we can't, or if you start in to them, they go across the next top. But the end result is worth it
