6 year old female. Clean bill of health. Thyroid level is good. Goes out about 200-400yds stays in one area for about 2-3 min and comes in. Has anybody had this happen to a dog?

I firmly believe that if all the usual reasons like tick diseases, thyroid trouble, heartworm and other parasites ect.....have been eliminated something happens in a dogs brain. Maybe a light stroke or chemical imbalance could even be early dementia, tumor or parasite in the brain. But I'm not a vet.and have no medical training whatsoever but it is just my opinion, but something goes wrong somewhere and maybe we'll never know. 🤔

I’m assuming just the basic test. She’s got plenty of energy. Moves around without any stiffness

Are you hunting the same area a lot/ IM thinking maybe a wolf or some other critter has move into the area and she is afraid of it.

Yeah I’ve been hunting her for my buddy. Not aware of any Bad experiences that she may of encountered. Seems like it’s mental because she definitely acts like a young dog around the house. Sure hope she flips the switch. She was once a real nice unit.

If you haven’t done so already I’d try teaming her up with a solid coon dog for a few hunts. If by chance her issue is for whatever reason a psychological one, a few hunts with a solid dog that is straight and is one that is not aggressive in anyway around the tree may bring her back to what she once was.
