2023 National Dual Championship
Today, let's talk about the National Dual Championship. For this year's event, UKC accepted pre-entries and as of right now, there are 72 dogs that are pre-entered. Walk ups will be accepted on Thursday until we hit the 100 dog cap, or until the 6 PM deadline comes.
Originating in 2018, the National Dual Championship has become a premier event that recognized true dual purpose hounds that can excel both in the woods and in the ring. There are only 5 dogs in the history with the NATLDC title attached to their name. That makes it a huge honor, in my opinion.
The event gets started on Thursday night at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in the Kuhlman Center. We will be confirming entries and accepting walk ups from 5 PM to 6 PM. Walk up entries will be $60 and will close at either 6 PM, or the 100 dog cap is hit, whichever comes first. In order for a dog to compete, the dog MUST have at least a CH title in the show, and a NITECH title in the hunts showing on it's record.
During the hunt, dogs will be drawing out with and competing with only dogs of their same breed. Plus point cast winners will advance to the show portion of the event on Friday. The show will start at 12 PM, or immediately following the Registered classes, whichever is later. In the show, the dogs will show against the other plus point cast winners of their breed to determine a breed winner. Then the 7 breed winners will be brought back to compete for the title of National Dual Champion.
The presenting sponsor of the National Dual Championship is Kelley's K-Lights. We can't thank Sandra Hintz enough for her sponsorship of this event and her support for the hunters in our sport. She will be set up at Autumn Oaks so be sure you go by and see her at her booth.
