Who has had to deal with it. Do dogs that get rid of the fungus in their lungs get back to their old self, or will they have limitations.

I have now 4 year old male he had blasto and histoplasmosis both in his lungs last summer. Both were in his lungs. Treated him for 3 months can’t tell that it affected him any he’s still got huge mouth goes hard. From what I’ve read the lungs are the easiest place to treat. Good luck

My Rex Dog had it for a couple years. The lung damage was irreversible, and he was only good for about one hour of hunting. He got cancer and died about two years later after spending over $2000 on medication. Do a "search" on this site for blasto.

He's been on meds for three weeks, after two his lungs showed some clearing. The unknown part of it is whether he will be the same dog when and if it's clear. The steroids got him feeling well enough to get back on his feed and try to bark, but he lost his voice too. What Larry said gives me some hope. All I can do is wait and see. Figures when you get one you really like something like this happens
