What happens to a dogs strike points once he comes into a tree after judge/cast arrives?
Rule 5 B says if coon seen dogs strike points will be minused.
But no where does it say what happens to strike points coming into tree that is slick/den/circled!
Can someone explain?

I am still wrestling with this question. Reason?
Rule 5 (b) No dog to receive minus points for “coming to tree” after judge arrives “unless” a coon is seen and the dogs treeing are awarded plus points.

With this rule being in the circle points section of the rules does this mean anytime a dog comes into a tree after judge arrives will get his points circled regardless of tree being slick/off game/den?

Rule 4 (a) When a dog quits a track that is being worked and comes into cast or “to a tree” Exception 5(b)

This seems like a double standard based on Rule 4 if dog comes into tree strike points minused, but 5 (b) is clear that dog shall not be minused coming into tree after judge arrived unless coon is seen and dogs are plusssd.

So if you can’t minus a dog coming into tree after the judge arrived and coon not seen, and you can’t delete the points because it’s not in the delete section then that means it has to be circled.

Rule proposal to either minus dog coming into tree after judge arrives or delete the points. To be able to circle a dogs strike points for coming into a slick tree or off game after the judge and cast arrives at tree is no good in no way. That’s awarding a dog possible circle points for doing something wrong and those circle points are a cast tie breaker!

Coon seen minus, anything else delete, I believe the rule you are referring to is under colum circle/delete. Someone much smarter than me should be able to explain. Never the less in my opinion any dog that comes to a tree being scored should be minused. Rather there that slow or quit what they had

I agree 100%
But under the delete section it doesn’t say to delete! You will get many different answers and I like ukc to clarify the rule with the rules printed. I can’t see how.

Rule 5 (b). Dogs coming in late get circled on anything other than a coon..I call it the saved by the judge rule.

*I wrote a rule change for this the last go around for them to be deleted but it did not pass. Most find it crazy that a dog that comes into a tree that late on even off game can later beat you on a tie breaker with circle points.

This is correct. NO DOG means no dog, struck, not struck it is a clear order it can not be minused unless coon is seen AND DOGS TREEING ARE AWARDED PLUS POINTS, if for some reason they don't get plussed then that dog still can't get minused on a coon. It would be difficult for that to happen but still it's in the rule.

It is in the Circle section so it means they get circled.
