Pup Caught A Coon

Started hunting one of my pups this week. He is 14mnths old. He has smelt a dead coon and followed drags.

Tonight he caught a coon on the edge of a field. When we got there they were going at it. We had to grab the pup by his back legs and pick him up in the air to break them up. He wouldn't stop fighting the coon. He is tore up pretty bad. Ear is tore and all.

Even when we got him on leash he wanted to fight it more. Coon was almost dead till we shot it.

Dog was bloody. Face tore up. But still wanting that coon baddd.

My question. For pups first coon did tonight ruin him? Only positive I can find is that he never stopped fighting it.

No that didn't ruin him. ... I suspect your about to see him take off and start acting like a hound.

Pup

Definitely ruined him- ill take him off your hands now that he is no good lol! To be honest from my experience you are about to see a pup become a coon dog. That type hatred for a coon is what seperates the good ones I have had from the average ones. Enjoy him.
