Southeastern Treeing Walker Days Part 2

First off let me say That im not on the board, that im not a advisor to board or kennel club, that Im not a owner with ten dogs running hunts so I feel that I have more say..Im a owner of a small coonhunting supply business that absolutely loves coonhunting .
This hunt in Union is being discussed and cussed and here is my take on a action not just a reaction.
LETS HAVE A FALL HUNT ALSO...HOLD IT IN LEXINGTON NC AROUND THE FIRST WEEKEND IN NOVEMBER...CALL IT THE FALL ROUNDUP OR SOMETHING CATCHY BUT WITH A TWIST.
GROUP THE TWO HUNTS TOGETHER AS FAR AS CAST WINS..THE GUYS OR GALS THAT WANT TO BE THE OVERALL SETWA CHAMPION AND GET A WIN OR TWO IN LEXINGTON ENTER UP AT UNION AND SHOOT FOR TWO MORE WITH THE FINAL CAST COMPETING A FOR THE NICEST PACKAGE THAT THIS ORGANIZATION CAN PUT TOGETHER.
The guys that truly love this organization can make this happen..solicit stud dog adds, vendor adds, brood gyp adds, truck adds from major companies..
Two Hunts from one great group of guys is not too much to ask will also enhance the youth hunt that they also hold..
DONT ASY WHY ASK WHY NOT!!!!

The chosen board makes All decisions, you go to the one meeting they hold that members are aloud to sit tru, you ask why not and let us know there answer, if you keep asking you will be escorted OUT! I have Never seen any Chosen board that refuses any advice or ideas from the members.

Then maybe back it off one weekend or so at the end of October..When their is a will their is way...North Carolina State hunt is held in april..It is actually one of the smallest held in the country at the salisbury location so we need to build some numbers at that location and some support to build up a push for north carolina to get a major event back..We only have one big hunt in our state of va so anything that we get people coming to helps both our regions and coonhunting in general!

Mr. Dalton, I am the vice president of the North Carolina Coonhunters Association and I don't know where you got your numbers from, but our state hunt is not one of the smallest in the nation. We usually hunt 50-60 dogs a night which isn't much less than the great hunt that you keep talking about they had in Union. If you want to promote Southeastern Treeing Walker Association, go ahead but please know your facts before posting anything about the North Carolina State Hunt.

I have not hunted at either hunt but what I have noticed the two other $$$ kc's are hustling getting big rich sponsors on board and it don't matter if they have their hunt at a Taco Bell people show up and pay high entries !!

Jeffrey wasnt stating it to defraud it but hopefully help it..But yes 50-60 dogs is not helping get the southeastern hunt back to salisbury..If we hunted 100-120 there and the state hunt in va. we have leverage..I only get my numbers from attending 7-8 state hunts a year..And another fact is I try to donate to the state hunt, the youth state hunt and the hannahs helping hands hunt whether nc or va!

Mr. Dalton, I don't know of any state hunt that hunts over 100 dogs a night. I don't ever remember seeing you at the NC state hunt but it will be held April 19th and 20th and if you would like to attend or donate to it, we would greatly appreciate your support.

Both have a great kennel clubs but ukc still has a great base to draw from..I know guys that take just as much pride in their dogs winning trophies and ribbons as a big paycheck..The effort to win that great paycheck may not be attainable for a few of us but they still take pride in showing up at a local ukc hunt in treeing more coons than their buddy did and winning..Im knock knocking any of them and no one can tell anyone where to hunt or which kennel club to hunt in but our sport is suffering in some areas that maybe we can tweek a bit..

Mr.Robinson You will probably not see me their this year either but you will see my donation as I have done for probably close to the last 20 years thru Mr.Gardner Or Mr.Mace..And I do know of a state hunt that hunts a 100 or close and you are welcome to come up for that one also at south boston va. end of march and hopefully we will treat you right.

Hunts

This posts show how counterproductive things can be nobody has all the answers how many places actually have enough good woods for more than 25 to 30 casts not very many also it takes alot of work from club members etc. The only thing is really see to change is setwba should be more open with there membership base with numbers etc. Also hunters could have there own hunt in N.Carolina just Mr Dalton posted you don't need a breed assc. to sanction it anyway if there is that much interested in n.carolina start a new hunt

I am to old and broke to hunt in those high entry fee hunts. My main goal this year is to hunt in the ukc world hunt which dog I do it with I don't know but I never hunted in it and it's on my bucket list. I not only study old pedigrees I am a habitual number cruncher ( because I am poor lol ) but it is public information you can see the formula that's drawing numbers also it is easy to see the other kc's are scheduling their flashy high payout hunts on the same weekends as the ukc ones that much I can see from my chair.

I don’t think getting the numbers up at the va state or the nc state has anything to do with getting the hunt moved. Low attendance had nothing to do with the hunt being moved to start with.

If they were worried about attendance this weekend should have been more than enough evidence that it needs to be moved somewhere.

Did get off subject a bit but it takes guys like Jeffrey to still show passion about our sport...Numbers prove a couple of things..That folks are interested in supporting a location for hunt numbers then setwa board considers income (which is their numbes)from vendors and the support from host city that is also monetary, clean up crews for grounds and a safe fairgrounds..
I don't want to see it moved but added to with another location for another fall hunt preferably in North Carolina to see if that is what it takes for numbers to improve for both sides ..
I SUPPORT COONHUNTING

John don’t take this personal but having 2 hunts will benefit venders more then SETWA And That’s what the members are trying to do but keep getting shut down by the CHOSEN board.
SETWA went from Over $100, 000 to $60,000, where did this money go!

Mr. Dalton's brain child of the Spring Fling is a perfect example of this. The number of people that hunt in multiple organizations is much higher than most realise. If you want to have a major event try to avoid the most major of other kennel clubs events don't schedule right on top of them. Especially when your event takes away from long established dates.
John do you realise what date I'm talking about. The idea should not be to weed out other kennel clubs we are stronger in this sport together than apart. Sorry but off subject of the SETW. If you are looking for a fall date avoid there is none in Sept look at the first weekend of October but check for state championships in the area. Aslo avoid the last weekend of October. November is alot more open but many states deer rifle season opens so be sure to check desired states hunting season. Jmo.

John isn’t your side by side PKC Hunt held the same week as UKC world? How’s that working out?

Why doesn’t the association put up $10,000 for the hunt instead of the $4000? Everyone says they want money so give them what they want.

Yes it is and as someone who's club has both kind of hunts and a Rqe I was pretty disappointed in the date chosen. Ukc is having their first ever $ World hunt, hey let's get more involvement in local hunts and have it's major event on the same day.

Tim it probably is but the guys that are planning to hit the ukc world is a entirely different bunch that go to superstakes and the side by side hunt...It's different than the zones and if you don't advance their is another opportunity to hit a major event if you are already out that way..You have a nice stud dog and if you have some nice pups off of him I bet you would rather have your one yr old pups at superstakes and your old dogs at the world..So it looks like something was created for stud owners with nice pups and stud dogs that can still be hunted!

It's definitely hard for the cross over guys and when the date was confirmed with that organization I'm sure they looked at thier dates and no one elses..With that being said maybe a few new handlers will help and there fore numbers will increase..I try and support them all and get along with everyone .It should help numbers at open events for y'all and rqe numbers also with the finals out that way..East coast rqes will not pan out this year for east coast guys but it is good chance for everyone west of the big river.

Whats up my friend?? Ive learned that it is not but a very slight difference from promotion and stirring the pot...33 years of selling my wares at these hunts and I learn something new every day but one thing is still true I still enjoy going to them.
