RIP Aliton Murphy, Metamora, Indiana

Aliton was a longtime member of the Indiana Stateline Coon Hunters Association in St Leon, Indiana.




Aliton Murphy, age 64, of Metamora, Indiana died Sunday, November 25, 2018 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born January 18, 1954 at the family home in Beattyville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Herschel & Anna (Flannery) Murphy. On November 15, 2003 he was united in marriage to Sharon Rogers and she survives.

Aliton was retired having worked at the Farm Bureau Co-Op for 23 years; the Franklin County Highway Department as well as the State of Indiana. He was a member & Past Master of the Metamora & Andersonville Masonic Lodges; and was a Township Trustee for Metamora for many years. In his leisure time he enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and visiting with family & friends on his front porch.

Besides Sharon, his wife of over 15 years, survivors include a daughter & son-in-law, Tracy (Jason) Denney of Laurel, Indiana, three grandsons, Aliton (A.J.) Denney, Zane Denney, and Joseph Denney; three sisters, Florence Busch of Beattyville, Kentucky, Betty Friend of Delaware, Indiana, and Janie Wolfe of Russellville, Alabama; three brothers, Glen Murphy and Steve Murphy both of Laurel, Indiana, and Lynn Murphy of Shelbyville, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at Elm Grove Baptist Church in Metamora with the date and time to be announced.
