Very happy with the actions of the Bone pup. But like all pups. Time will tell. You have to take them and see what their breeding brings to the table and then shore up the weak spots with positive repetition and discipline.
I will include myself in this statement. Most people are too easy on their dogs. I have the standards and understanding of what is needed. But fall short at times in making the dogs understand them. Thats really not fair to me or the dogs.
Young man that I like to think I mentor really impressed me the other night with a young dog he is hunting. He has taken to heart things I have said about dogs and along with the knowledge he has learned the past two years being around some top handlers. He does't cut one much slack and he has the youthful energy to make one go as long as necessary. That is probably my biggest downfall at my stage in life. The youthful energy left a long time ago and it is easier to load one up thinking about what I need to do next time. Instead of tightening up the boot straps and correcting a problem now.
But the good news about coon hunting. The dogs are my dogs just like everyones else has their dogs. Everyone has the right to use their own standards and types of training. If I fall short I blame myself. Been dreaming about the wonder dog for 50 years. Hopefully I will have a few more years to dream and maybe one will have the natural ability to make some of the dream come true.
