Explain this Purina Race rule

If dog is bought or transferred after Jan 1,2018 that dog is not eligible for the $10k bonus money from Purina.

Now, I appreciate sponsoring companies I do. But, I don’t understand that rule. I rarely change a dog to my name in UKC but I like the new format for Purina Race. I agree the $4500 for first or $1500 for breed leader is a good purse. But, why the rule on dog not being in Pro Club members name by Jan 1 I do not get.

My guess is they don't want some money bags running out and buying the points leader in December so they can brag about winning the race. But that's just a guess.

It is so someone who isn't a Pro Club member can't transfer their dog into someone's name who is a Pro Club member just to qualify for the bonus money.
