Batman X Queen Got a new project

Flo's Easy Ace. Just picked him up from Micah two weeks ago yesterday. He is 14 weeks old today. He's catching on pretty fast so here are some training videos of what he has learned in past two weeks.

Nice job! Its great to see someone working with and putting time in their pups. Those Batman pups are good students, too!

Training week #4 16 weeks old

Ace week #4 training update videos. 16 weeks old. This week ace worked on leading on leash, agility and wind searching and treeing. The videos obviously do not contain the great deal of detail in Training the Tree Dog taken to get to this point but does give you an idea of just exactly the conditions Ace has to work with. Wind scent search and treeing on scent with the hide well hidden out of sight. I hope you will visit: www.trainingthetreedog.com

17 weeks old 5th week training

Ive discussed, seen and heard all the talk about breeding and Genes and evolution of more innate tree dog instincts. I see for myself over the years quite noticeably higher coonhound success rates due to the breeders efforts. But I still don't believe in natural born tree dogs. Tracking sure but treeing not so much. A dog would soon starve and freeze in the wild waiting on game in wild to come down a tree. What I think is breeders efforts to strengthen Treedog instincts has inadvertently improved overall coon dog play drive or game drive and intelligence and thus train ability. This brings me to this video. Week 5 training at 17 weeks old. Pay attention to how, by carefully adhering to a structured training program you can manipulate instincts through training. Watch closely, this pups first really challenging week where I tried tricking him by exposing him to various different hiding spots from day to day See him fight his instincts to track with his nose down vs head up knowing well there is no sent besides in the air. Eventually his first instinct will be to wind first and trail second. https://youtu.be/Y1Y3ppfW09A

20 weeks old. I guess you know we have had some arctic cold past few weeks but still training as long as it's above 15 or so degrees. This is training lesson 3 in a new environment. Ace got a little overwhelmed training in a new more complex environment even under relatively simple conditions. His accurate locating and treeeing remain awesome but he is week on hunting searching. The same is true at night with the old dog. He's scared of the dark still. He is treeing some with her even on bad trees when you walk him in. He shows fair to good athletic ability. In all you could walk hunt this pup right now and tree an easy hot coon with him. So overall not too bad so far.

Ace Treeing his first coon split from his aunt Teak

Flo's Easy Ace 20 weeks old 1/19/18. Tonight Ace made some major progress in the wild hunting. He really put his yard training to work. He went out hunting numerous times over 60 yards. He crossed a 3 foot woven wire fence with double strands of barbwire on top. He treed with intensity with his aunt Teak on a den after we walked him most the way in before he went to her. THEN THE BIGGY!!!!!!! He treed his first coon. Split treed from aunt Teak and he had the meat. What a rewarding and exciting night. I hope you will visit www.trainingthetreedog.com. I am going to be updating it soon too with these you tube videos of Ace.
