What would everyone do if they could get that one Special Dog back now ?

I was sitting at work the other day looking out the windows at the leaves changing and watching the Fall wind blow, when like probably a lot of you have ... thinking about those Special dogs that holds a Special place in your heart. I really thought then I would always have a dog that suited me, sadly I was wrong .. now I'm trying to start over years later when I'm older and don't have the time or don't make the time I did then ... nevertheless I was thinking about how different I would have handled my breeding as far as what I shoulda bred to and etc . Etc . And as bad as I miss them I shoulda taken more pics and gave a lot more hugs ... I also spent the next couple of days thinking of a lot of different things in my head that if I would have done them that woulda possibly had me hunting exactly what I liked so much about the one Special Dog ... as Brannon said just 5 minutes ago ... life is short ... thx and Godbless America

You know that you have that special dog when you can't wait for it to get dark.

I agree with that statement Richard. Boy if I could just get mine back, hunting would be fun again. I lost the best hunting partner I ever had when he went. Never once did he have something else to do, and always left me kicking dark in the face. You don't know how good or how much they mean to you until they are gone. I keep looking, but so far none have measured up.

The most true statement I've heard in a while! I've seen the time when I thought it would never get dark again.lol

I just bought mine back after 2 years of looking thanks to some great people. Shes 8 now, a little greyer in the face. Were going to enjoy her as long as we can and hopefully get one last litter out of her and hopefully get our next special dog. Even if we dont get a litter she wont ever leave our ownership again.

X2, don't know what you got till its gone, unfortunately sometimes there's no getting it back,in my case. There was wipeout years before wipeout was ever known. The first thing I would do would be have it collected, now.

breed

looking back now ...instead of being so picky about what to breed my male to, I think it would have been better to breed to any and everything lol ..

My once in a lifetime dog was crossbred...so he wouldn't do me much good as to what I need now...if I had collected 1 males at 5 generations after him I could pick up close to where I left off in 2010...

What If??

I just had a bad experience with the best reproducer that I ever owned, Penney. Last Saturday night Penney fell about 10 feet out of a tree and appeared ok, but on Tuesday night when I checked her she was having trouble breathing. She bruised left lung and had a liter of fluid taken out and almost died. So I get another chance with her. She loves to hunt and I haven't hunted her against a dog that I felt was better even though she has been beaten. I guest I'll retire her to be my companion and raise pups. I had her entered in a 4x4 hunt next Sat. but the risk is not worth the possible reward. She won the Grandmasters in 2015, qualified 4 years for World Hunt, Walker Sectional this summer, PHC Ch with very little competition hunting, but most of all she won my heart. It is nice to be looked to up even if it is only by a dog. Ken Risley

Sorry to hear about Penny's accident, and I am sure glad to hear she's going to be okay. Hope you get to hunt her many more nights, the good ones seem to age really fast! Dave

Sorry to hear about Penny. Hope everything turns out fine with her, so you have her around for several (litters) years yet. Guess I won't be seeing you come Fri. night in Nashua. Take care, Ron.

Special Dogs

Hi Ron,
I'll see you Friday With Rex. It has been a tough year for my dogs. Rex is just recovering from a relapse of fungal infection. He's had it twice in the last year. You can't hit a home run if you quit swinging!

I'm with you Richard. If I could go back to the age I was when I had that good dog, I could probably make something out of what I have now.

I know I would enjoy the one I had a lot more. It's been almost 20 years and I can still remember the first coon he treed. People use to with draw at the club house and go home when they would draw me. They would just say they can't beat him and go home. I still get guys come up to me to talk about him. They come and go way to fast.
