Female is due in heat soon, however I've noticed that one side of her vulva has swollen but the other side has not. Is that the start or some kind of infection? I've not seen any discharge yet to make me think it is infected.

If you pay attention to the fleshy area between the tail and vulva will swell just before the rest swells.
