Coonhunters

Why is it that when you hear 4 different coonhunters that were on the same cast tell you what their cast was like you would swear that they weren't all on the same cast?
And why is it that coonhunters have such a hard time judging distance? One hunters 10 feet is another hunters 10 yds. Or one hunters 100 yds is another hunters 500 yds.
And how is it that coonhunters have such selective hearing? They can hear their dog 900 yds away but can't hear yours 400 yds.

Why is it a outsider wins a hunt and only a handful of people congratulate them out of a large group of members? Why is that???

Always kinda Been that Way....

I think the hunt format needs changed,,,give all dogs the same chance to win the overall...

Elimination Format...All late Rounds and Finals judged by non hunting judge,,

After all we are looking for the best of the best...

There aren't any outsiders when it comes to Redbones. We are all one big family. But everyone has their own personality and sometimes two different personalities clash. So sometimes even family members don't get along.
When a situation doesn't go your way, are you expecting too much or are the other guys unwilling to give enough? Everyone always has their own opinion on how every situation should go.
If you aren't a member of a group or clique, is that their fault or yours?

I can't believe that everyone doesn't like me or doesn't want me in their group. I mean, I try so hard to be nice. I also find it hard to believe that some people don't think that I am always right.

It's not just coonhunters...
Watch a Trump speech...then watch the commentary about it on MSNBC or CNN...
Then watch the commentary about it on Fox News....
You will wonder if they even watched the same speech...people see and hear what they want to....and then omit details that don't fit their narrative when they repeat the story...or embellish or exaggerate it to make it more memorable. Probably been going on for thousands of years....probably continue for a few thousand more...

I guess that it is the competition. And there is always competition amongst coonhunters, even when 2 buddies are just pleasure hunting. Almost everyone knows someone that isn't even fun to pleasure hunt with because they are so competitive. I don't think that I have ever been to a Major hunt where there hasn't been some "drama". Almost everyone there wants to win, some a lot more than others. Almost everyone is looking for an "edge" or playing a strategy. But that is human nature and happens in any competitive sport.

Probably has something to do with lack of Dog power

You old ''Hippie'' you should know the answer to all this.
years ago I knew a well known fellow that went to Redbone days, Autumn Oaks etc. almost never ran a dog in the hunt, but would try to go pleasure hunting with some well know dog. next day he always was a tellin how his mutt put it on old well known. --lol--I miss that old guy RIP----true story
also you know how a dog always gets much better after he's dead--lol

Hershell, that is another Coonhound phenomenon. The longer that they are dead, the better they get.
