Rubber Hunting Boots

I saw on another forum where someone was asking for opinions on rubber boots. I thought I would also ask here where I would say for the most part that the boots would get a work out. I saw on here where, "bullboy" asked about Reed Boots, but no replies. I personally haven't heard of them. I looked em up and look like a well made boot but they all look good in the pictures. I am in the need of a pair of rubber boots and would like the goods and bads on them. Thanks

Lacrosse Burly Classic, have used Burlys for 35 yrs. Trioed a different boot once ( also a Lacrosse boot, ) and hated them. Right back to Burlys and will not change as long as this boot is made.

.

A boot that is becoming popular very fast is the Dan's Frogger boot. It is something that Dan's Hunting Gear had made for them and is similar to the MucK Wetland but they had several improvements made.
1. Better Traction Sole with lug on the back to help remove the boot.
2. In insole is a air cushion similar to the Quatro Boot.
3. The rubber on the exterior had the material thickness increased 1 mil,
4. The air cushion insole should also eliminate the problem you had with the heels wearing out on the inside of the muck boots.

I talk to people everyday about boots and everyone has their favorites and they all have the boots they hate. What one guy likes another guy dislikes. I watched probably a hundred people try on these boots this weekend at the Grand American and I watched their faces and listed to their discussions on how the boot felt. Most were very happy.
This is the first year that I only had one type of boot there as I usually also had Lacrosse and Quatro. I didn't regret just having the Frogger Boot there.

There was a mention of the reed boot and my experience with it was good but it was a boot that Dan's picked up at a reasonable price because it was suppose to be discontinued. They give us a pretty good discount on it and we sold it at AO year before last. Also the same with the Muck Hoser boot. A boot used for a large quantity sale at one or two shows.

The thing I don't like about boots like the frogger, grubs, and muck is other than they tend to puncture easy is that they seep water because they are sewn at the neoprene and the rubber doesn't run the height of the boot. Mucks would last 3-6 months where I hunt before leaking. I'm convinced you could walk thru a mine field with bekinas and they wouldn't leak. They don't fit everybody but if the other boot makers could make a boot close to as durable as the bekinas I'd consider buying them. I'm also very disappointed in Dan's because they discontinued their balistic chap! That was retarded Iit was the best chap they made!! The 5-stars last me a max of 3-4 months before I walk thru them. Facts are facts and if you don't want to buy a new pair of boots every 6 months get bekinas boots with badlands chaps. That's a fact. They will out last the others 4x.

Boots.....

I keep going back to Mucks, have never had any problems out of them, I have Yoder Lightweight Chap & also Mucks with 5 Star......Like both.
Have tried the Bekina, Quatro, New Lacrosse,.....ALL were Very uncomfortable.
I wore a pair of Lacrosse Air Grip for over 10 years.....Very comfortable and durable.
I will try a Pair of the Dans Frogger w/ 5 Star Chap next. They look nice.

Rob about your comment on the Balistic Chaps. I had them on my personal boots and I loved them. Dan's had to make a business decision because they buy in BULK and other people just didn't like them as well as you and I and they didn't sell well.

Last year at Autumn Oaks we sold Bikina Boots with chaps for $100 and they were the cheapest we sold and were not the best seller.
I think the construction of the boot might be the best out there. Just not the best wearing boot. The Dunlap Boot Dan's sold was the same way. Dependable but not the best feeling boot on your feet.

Well insoles are cheap and what it comes down to for me is tough. A boot that is that tough and lasts 1 1/2-2 yrs. Is worth buying insoles for. Dan's lost my business on their chaps because they just don't work here. I've been using the wicked chaps and am very impressed but will get badlands when/if i wear these out. I wish i didnt have such rough woods to hunt that tore everything to shreads. I wish I'd have known you were selling them do $100 I'd have bought 2-3 pairs!! Personally I think the bekinas are very comfortable and super light. I've hunted in mucks lacrosse Quattro and bekinas are my favorite by far!! But the chap thing is what gets me as long as I can find balistic chaps that's what I'm getting.

I stopped buying any muck products because they support PETA. Lacrosse has always been my product of choice.

For a summer boot I've had a pair of lacrosse grange boots and some Dan's knee high gators just ask then to send you a pair without the metal clips for lase up boots those gators will keep you from tearing the upper part of the boot. Mine are 5 years old and the bottoms of the boots are almost worn out.

I wear Mucks so this really got my attention. From what I could find $ was not donated by the company to the HSUS, but was donated to a local animal shelter by employees in memory of a coworker that passed away from cancer.

I have always wore Lacrosse burly sports but dissapointed when the rubber sole came off my last 2 pair. I am now in a pair of Mucks and they are very comfortable. My next pair will be Dans frogger that I saw and grand american. By the way Muck does not support peta or Aspca, Muck co had a employee that passed and the family requested instead of flowers that a donation to humane society. The employees collected money and made a donation in name of deceased. I had a friend contact Muck and that's what he was told. Robert

From what I found it happened in 2014. The articles I read stated that an employee posted they collected $2,000 to donate to HSUS. As soon as people read that, they were upset and threatened never to buy Muck boots again. Muck then posted that they weren't making a corporation donation, but that employees were gathering $ to donate to a local animal shelter (not HSUS) in memory of a coworker that has passed away from cancer.
Bkwoods posted the same thing. The only thing I didn't find is if they actually donated the $. When Muck posted the story that the donation was going to a local shelter the article said people called the shelter and they said they didn't receive a donation, when people got back to Muck about it, their spokesman said it hadn't been donated yet because they were still gathering $ to donate.

not trying to completely change the subject but have been wondering for a while about this....i wear a pair of wick frogleggs put on a lacrosse boot with a different sole that he offered back then. it looks like little knobbies on a tire. since wick is out of business, is there anywhere I can have these resoled or even new boots added to these old frogleggs. ive been wearing them 20 yrs i guess and they still good as new except the sole is wearing down....

I had the same set up you got for a long time myself . I finally wore em out. They were great too !!! I still have a OLD pair Lacrosse with those little knobbies on the bottom just dont have chaps on them . I use them deer hunting or just kick around in. That was before the boots started being made from CHINA. I had some the newer lacrosse a few years back they arent the same quality IMO

I would like to find a boot that isn't a struggle to get on and off. I have big calves and this has always been a problem. I have threatened to take a knife to them. I also have a high arch which makes break in time on a pair of boot MISERABLE. Why can't the boot people just come to my house and make me a good boot that fits. lol
