Inflamed tear duct

I have had one do this before years ago but I don't remember what we gave him to clear it up. Anybody know?

Have it examined to be sure there isn't a foreign body stuck under the 3rd eyelid. If it is just inflammed / infected it may respond to over the counter Terramycin. If the cornea is intact and there is no corneal ucler I treat these with a combination steroid/antibiotic called Neopoly Dex Opthalmic drops twice daily.

Looks like "cherry eye". Vet surgery to remove it. They cut it out and stitch up. My experience with eye drops and creams it will most likely come back again and again unless surgically removed. This Surgery is not a big deal. Costs between $60 and $120 depending on your Vet. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply guys... Got a vet appointment for Thursday and picked up some Terramycin this evening to use until then. Toyed with the idea of trying to massage it back into place.

Dogs have a third eyelid that will cover up the eye to protect it when it gets injured. The vet will likely check for ulcer and prescribe drops and ointment to give. It takes some time for it to go away

Nothing stuck under the 3rd eyelid or any other issues. She Prescribed the Neopoly Dex Opthalmic drops twice daily and a cream version of the same drug to use at night. Said the cream would help keep it moist. Cleared completely up in about a week. No relapse so far.
