Who hunts in heavy pine area with any luck? We're in a deer club in eastern NC with close to 5,000 acres but like the rest of eastern NC its mostly all pines with some small hardwoods along creeks. Finding big patches of hardwoods is getting harder and harder. Just curious who, if anyone bothers hunting in and around big pine plantations
They are there, good luck shining them haha, nasty 100 foot pines make it hard to find eyes up there, my pup put one up a sparkle berry tree the other night in a cutover.

Hunting in pines is the majority of my hunting. Coons very, very rarely ever climb them here though. The bark is very loose and breaks free easy. Makes it difficult for them to climb I guess. They will always find one of those scattered hardwoods to get up.

Hunting the pine plantations will show you why we use feeders for pups. I try to hunt the small patches of hard wood but many times we tree on a pine. Try turning your dogs down the drainage ditches and low wet places.
