What's it looking like for you all? Not so great here. Red oaks are dropping pretty good but they're pretty much at the bottom of the food chain as far as acorns go.

White oak and rock oak acorns are pretty much non existent around here this yr from what I can tell. Talked to some loggers and they are saying the same thing, not seeing any except on red oaks.

Red oaks are the only ones that take 2 yrs to mature, pretty sure our white and rock oak acorns got froze out in some late heavy frosts this spring.

Tons of acorns here. Whites and water and chestnut. I've not looked at any reds or pin. White oaks are what matters here and they hanging full where I've looked. I've not been high up to look though and they can vary big time here. When your talking about 1500' or 3000' high or more. Plenty of walnuts but they are only good for cakes and such right?

I treed several coon in the oak trees the other night.I didn't look for acorns but I'd say they were feeding on them.

We had a very weak mast crop last year and from what I am seeing so far this year is worse.

Talked to a couple DNR people last year and they both said that the oaks and hickory have a 7-10 year boom and bust cycle and that we are on the low end. They claim that it could last a couple years before swinging back up.

I have a couple big white oaks over my dog kennel that the squirrels have been tearing up for the last 10 days. No Hickory nuts but do seem to be a lot of acorn cutting on the ground.

But lack of acorns is a big deal.....squirrel, turkeys, coon, deer, and bear are all competing for them. Modern farming equipment lets very little when the crops are taken off. Hope the game around here likes bitter red oaks because it looks like that's what they're gonna be getting.

White oak,,,black oak,, red oak,,hickory,,black walnut,,,as good a yr as we have had on all them,,,west central Indiana and east central Illinois,,,bumper crop...way to early for the oaks to drop but lots of them,,,,squirrel are cutting hard on hickory and beach nuts and starting to hit the black walnut,,persimmon is unreal....banner yr here..

I messed around and hung my best stand beside a walnut tree. The squirrels knock them off and I spend my time dodging them. One of these days they are going to find me knocked out in my stand. Ours nut trees are over loaded this year.

Here in Jefferson County we have plenty of acorns, both red and white oak groups. More of the Reds but no lack of rock oak or white oak.

I'm actually surprised that there are as many as there are. With the dry weather this year, we expected more to be aborted.

Right now, coons are hitting cherries real hard, but they'll be off to corn and acorns soon enough
