My friends and I purchased 3 pups through Bill hicks about 7 months ago and we are very happy with them . my friends got hammer x Maggie pups and mine was from bills brother and he was out of bear x lou and they are the real deal bear pups . flat out awesome . couldn't ask for better . gritty cold nosed treeing machines . we are in Idaho and they are making a name for themselves . I been running and breeding hounds for 14 years now and these are some of the best . thanks bill I will be getting more .
Just bought a hicks jip off hammer x pearl . She's a buckskin beautiful plott. Haven't had her on a bear yet but will be excited to see how she turns out. Glad to hear great feed back from this line. Thanks
How long did your pup take to start catching on. I've got a female off hammer X Maggie cross that I've just started pushing in the past month or so Curious to see how hicks pups are starting
Well I hunted the last 9 out of 11 days. I was able to take my new jip. Packed her in while trailing she stayed whole time and was opening. She bayed 1st bear she was on decent. Learned to tree. By the end of the hunt I turned her out alone and she trailed and bayed bear by herself until I was able to send her help. I think she's going to make a top notch bear hounds. She's a solid blond off Hammer x Pearl 14 months old
The male hammer x magie pups are doing ok . the male my buddy has is doing real well . the female of the same cross that my other buddy has is doing good when she goes but right now likes to be where we are . gonna give her till next bear season .
Mine was kind of the same way to start but I'm able to hunt like I did last year but in the past month to two months of only going 1-3 times a week she has made a big difference. I know that's not much to push a young dog but with my schedule and this heat in south ga it's all I can do lol
