Feeding Bread

Any other of you guys farm and have plenty of bread to share with your dogs? I raise hogs and get barrels of bread for about $8 for 60 loaves. Dogs love it and I usually give them 2-4 slices a day as treats. Growing up everyone fed their dogs bread, but not many people seem to anymore. Most of us buy this bread for our cows and pigs. Just wondering if anyone else on this site gives their dogs bread.

To much will kill a cow. I do know that for a fact. We started buying for coon feeders. We would fill big drums up with it. Summer hit. Stuff started going through a heat in barrels. Stunk to high heaven. Prolly killed every coon that ate it also.

toby dog.

when i started travelling to bear hunt my one bluetick who did way better on bear than coon got addicted to bread! my dog had never been hunted on feeder or bait like they use and these guys used bread and grease. anytime there was bread left at bait goofy dog would eat any and all then go to tracking. dont know how it didnt kill him. there was couple times at tree or when caught him looked like swallowed small barrel.

I have fed bread with their dog food. It will fatten a dog up in the dead of winter. Just beware of the runny poop if you feed too much of it because it will definitely clean a dog out. Lol

To much will kill goats too. Came back from a Colorado elk hunt and had 4 loafs left. My wife gave it all to 2 pigmy goats , it killed them that night .

Make sure it doesn't have MOLD on it. Will make a dog really sick, to much mold and it will kill them.

I also farm goats but never thought of feeding it to them..thanks tho and I'll be sure to never do that. The pigs like it, but really love snack cakes and pies etc...ofcourse the dogs don't get those.

My dad feeds it to the cows, pigs and chickens. $15 to fill the bed of your truck.

Bread

I have fed bread to our steers that we fatten each year and wow it will really make them grow along with grain. I have two angus steers right now that are eating a dozen loaves a day plus grain. I have never seen it give a problem. It also makes awesome bear bait. Like the man said, feed it.

I feed bread to my hogs, dogs, and chickens. Hogs get alot but dogs only get a few pieces plus their dog feed. Hogs get corn too. Chickens eat a little plus corn and grower. And they r out during the day. Nothing has died here

used to feed a pickup load a week to the coon.
never took it out of the wrapper. they would tear a bag open and eat every crumb. they would come from far and wide to feast on it.
picking up empty bread wrappers got to be a pain.
