i have a 3 year old female thats never been bred. has regular heat cycles and is in full blown standing heat right now. standing and flagging pretty as you please. i also own the male im breeding her too but planned to have her bred ai by a vet cause he has tried to breed 3 females natural and just cant get mounted. good thing he uses his nose to tree coons. took them to clinic they swab her and say she not ready and also has an infection. suggested starting her on meds and checking her again in two days. so we did. second time they swab her they tell us she has a uterus infection and want to spay her. i paid the bill and took her home. she is not sick and never has been. vet even questioned how she could have been in heat but i assure you she is. i researched online last night til my eyes were square and i see nothing that indicates thats the problem. appreciate any input. cant stress enough there is nothin wrong with this dog unless she is yet to get sick from it. thanks for any help.

i am with Well Started on this , i think i would take her to a different vet and get her checked again because if you took her to get her AI-ed they should have known she had a uterus infection right then , if she does she should be sore on her under side between the front of hips and back of rib cage , everyone i have seen that had it bad was ..

I had one with that infection. You could tell it. Had a bunch of rough looking stuff coming out. They said best thing to do was spay her but I didnt. She was never regular on heat cycles after giving ovaban once for the super stakes. Vet said when I gave it. They really had no clue and was giving way to high doses. Says thats what caused all her problems later in life. I dont myself. Could have been. After about 8yr old. She never came in again. Bout same time she had tgat infection.

Ya I've heard ovaban could cause problems. Gonna finish the meds as there is apparently some kinda infection there, but I'm not buying that its in her uterus and have her spayed. Vet basically told my partner that she couldn't even be in heat. I wasn't there or I coulda got my male out of the truck and showed her. I've never seen a dog stand and flag like that if she wasn't in heat. Either way with cervix open there should be a discharget thatsthat's hard to miss or if cervix is closed she should swell thru her stomach, both of which should be pretty obvious. This dog ain't sick. At all.
