.

I wonder about it and joke about it myself. I have one area that is around a lot of potato fields and farm land and there are drainage ditches everywhere. I know they are full of chemicals because you can smell it. I always tell the dog not to drink to much because it will make him glow in the dark.

I wouldn't know the scientific or medical reason but the short answer is because they're different than us. Lol. How does a dog eat cow pies, cat and chicken feces, and chew on any dead thing known to man without getting sick?

We got a flowing artisian well on a place we hunt got a cup on the end of the pipe In the hot summer it sure is good ! But they put so much emphasis on things I remember grandma cooking somthing for dinner a just pulling a table cloth over it might be the next day before it all got ate up just wondering maybe we should be like our dogs and get a good worming once and a while !

Yep, drank out of 2 of them local more times than I could count. Doesn't get much better. 1 had a overflow pipe just like your describing, the other was an open artesian.

The open artesian had a sand bottom that was constantly bubbling from the water coming up, must of came from real deep because it could rain for a week or not rain for 6 weeks and the water level and overflow never changed.

every where i hunt around here is springs and creeks and no standing water everything white caps because its so steep , i went and hunted with a buddy in the early fall a good 2 hour drive from here and halfway through the night my dogs got sicker than buzzards from drinking stale standing water and got to the point they just would stand heaving and i had to dose them with benadryl , the water down there is about as bad as is in old mexico ..

When you start understanding how a dog does the things he does, maybe you can explain how he can stay in the swamp all night with his balls in freezing water.
