A cure for coons not moving!

Here's a new training method that works when the weather is bad and you're tired of being in the house. I put bandit in the truck and went to a hunting spot that I knew had lots of den trees, I walked about 300 yards off of the road (leaving bandit in the box), used my electronic predator call near a huge cottonwood den. 4 coons came out of the den, 2 ran off but 1 returned to the den. After several minutes, I gave up on any other coons actually leaving the den so I walked the 300 yards back to the truck to get bandit. I turned him loose down the ditch as if it were any other night of hunting so he could discover the track without being coerced. Moments later he struck the track, running it for 700 yards and treeing in another huge den.
Sorry the treeing part of the video was so short, he was treed on posted ground near a house so I had to run up and talk to the landowner. Hope this helps you guys train some of your redbone pups during these long winter months.

That would be a good way to start a pup by itself to I would think

I've been calling coins for probably 10 years I can't believe I haven't tried what you just did before

Awesome..!

That's pretty dang cool there buddy... Is that what the terrain looks like there.. Coondog heaven.! Had a miserable hunt last night, full moon, windy, first drop , long track... Hollow den. Second drop... Dogs are struck, moving it into flooded swamp( deep water).. Finally catch up to dogs.. Cowboy's covered in ice, seen enough... Time to go home.

What call set/sound do you use? If you dont mind me asking. That will come in super handy up here in the frozen north! Ive used this method in the past to start coyote hounds I cant believe I never thought to try that on coon.

I have a foxpro call and the sound that works best for me is raccoon fight. In the video I'm using adult coon distress, I was having trouble getting the coons to actually hit the ground and run so I was trying something different. I like to put the call behind me because the coon will often run to attack the call and I want to get between him and the den so I can chase him off. I originally thought that maybe I could hide behind a tree with a pup so the pup could see the coon run off. WRONG, playing the sound of coon fight near a young dog that hates a coon doesn't work out so good. Bandit wants to kill my electronic call. Lol.
